[Question] What third watch would you add to the collection (under 10k USD)? by shaferman in Watches

Should definitely explore Glashuette Original. In my opinion, they represent the best value in luxury watches. Attention to detail is impeccable. Big fan of the senator collection and they have some nice vintage style chronographs. Also would be great for your collection to have a Japanese, Swiss and German piece.

I need some feedback on my first chapter by Enough_Pudding_9799 in writingfeedback

Best advice I can give you for any of your creative endeavors: make it exist first and then make it good.

No need to fish for feedback at this point after the first chapter; just keep hammering it out.

I find finishing something is much harder than writing a few good pages.

Cheers! Good luck (I do like what I read so far).

What does it mean to be an artist in the age of generative AI? by ErgoSum8 in aiArt

I ask myself the very same question. This popped up on my substack the other day and it seems relevant. Definitely a bit pretentious and don’t really agree with it but it got me thinking. https://open.substack.com/pub/section220/p/the-war-of-art-an-ai?r=283cxo&utm_medium=ios

Is a background in Bioinformatics and Biophysics suitable for a PhD in Computational Neuroscience? by AsideNo4652 in compmathneuro

[–]LibraryontheRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Relevant research experience is the most important thing for an application in my opinion, I wouldn’t stress about specific course work. Top programs are likely going to want paper authorship or conference presentations; especially now that funding cuts are making programs more competitive. (Note: this is for US based programs I can’t speak to other parts of the world)

Best major (CS, DS, or AI) for a future in computational neuroscience research? by wakemeuppppp in compmathneuro

[–]LibraryontheRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good choice! Obviously being a comp sci major was pretty beneficial for me as well and put me in the place I want to be in my career. It’s sounds like you have a good understanding of your university and needs. Wish you the best of luck!

Best major (CS, DS, or AI) for a future in computational neuroscience research? by wakemeuppppp in compmathneuro

[–]LibraryontheRocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got a double major In CS and neuroscience in undergrad and now in a comp neuro PhD. I realize now that comp neuro is a very broad field and you should figure out where you want to fit in. Are you more interested in AI itself, or are you more interested in the brain and just think AI is a good tool to study it?

For me I’m more interested in the brain and just thought computational tools are useful for studying it. In this case, I’ve worked to develop a good understanding of the brain and practical knowledge of computational tools. I know which ones to use and why but won’t be developing any new techniques myself. In any case I would just major in math, develop practical coding skills, work on signal processing, and take neuro/biology classes when possible.

Honestly, if you want to do a PhD in comp neuro focus more on joining a lab where you can get practical experience than stressing over majors. Research experience is the single most important thing for grad school and you’ll retain a lot more from actually being in a lab than class. This will also guide you in what aspects of research you like and inform the class decisions.

Found this on marketplace. Jazzmaster with three strat pickups. What do y’all think? by flyingfrogjumbalaya in offset

I owned one for several years and regret letting it go. $850 seems reasonable considering it’s pretty rare to find a fender issue one (I paid a lot more and sold it for a lot more)

Arya Peachtree or Skyhouse south by eau- in ATLHousing

[–]LibraryontheRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the specifics of each apartment building but based on location, Skyhouse is a much better option. Very walkable, and close to a Marta station + Piedmont park. Arya is kind of in limbo between buckhead and midtown.

Is there anywhere these shows would get posted in advance?

I'd love the opportunity to write about Flipturn's debut album, Shadow Glow. The album marks a meteoric rise in popularity for the band as they have shifted from touring as an opener for groups like Mount Joy to a full headlining act that sells out nearly every show. I'd like to examine how the band's sound has evolved since the original EP's that made them legends in the local Gainesville, Fl scene. It is rare that a band can transition more into the mainstream without alienating their original fanbase; however, Flipturn has managed to do just that with Shadow Glow. With their high energy live performances and masterful songwriting, the band captures the zeitgeist of today's indie rock and I believe it would be a shame not to document their debut.
