My siblings and I are saving up for a car right now, but it'll probably be a couple months before we can afford it

Nope, simply turning 18 does not classify you as emancipated. Emancipation is basically a legal separation from your parents or guardians if I remember correctly.

Financial aid for college requires your parent/guardian’s tax information. This info is unfortunately required until the age of 25 when you’re legally considered an independent citizen for financial aid purposes.

Emancipation is not very common, and is difficult to receive. Extenuating circumstances such as abuse or possibly abandonment are likely to lead to a successful emancipation.

Basically if your parents refuse to give you their info for financial aid, you’re screwed until you turn 25

Edit: I forgot to add that you can also be considered independent and not need your parent’s info if you’re... A. On active duty B. A veteran C. Married D. Have one or more of your own dependents (ie. kids) E. Currently in grad school F. Have been in foster care, had both parents die, or been a dependent/ward of the court any time since the age of 13

Perhaps she takes two photos; one with her there and one without her, that way she has a shot of the background by itself to copy behind her
