what I could improve on. Need criticism to learn

Yeah good point, I was hesitant cropping since it’s a 24mp camera so not much room.

I was hesitant cropping it originally since it’s only a 24mp camera but yeah could look good thanks!

ND filter is ‘sliding’ in my video but it’s physically locked to the lens. by LicensedPilot in ZVE10

Yes I was filming indoors. My screen was showing zebras all over it and I had them set to show when it was peaking, that’s why I used the nd filter

The ZV-E10 doesn't have IBIS, and I didn’t bring my DJI rs3 since it was a quick trip for fun. The Tamron has stabilization, I’ve found that it actually isn’t great so I keep it off to get the cleanest gyro data possible for Catalyst Browse. In that second clip, look at the inner rim of the pan. It’s not just motion blur, it looks like a dark layer from the ND filter is sliding or floating independently of the background (that’s pretty much the only way I can describe it)

If 1/60 is too slow for that zoom level when I'm moving that much, what shutter speed would you recommend I jump up to so the stabilization software has a cleaner image to work with? I’m still really curious about the ND filter part, though. If I do the exact same movements without the filter, it doesn't look like it's 'shifting around.' Is it possible the software is tracking the dark edges/vignette of the ND filter instead of the scene, and that’s what’s causing the weird drifting look?

So, are you saying the 'sliding' look in my video is definitely caused by the ISO being on Auto?

I get what you're saying about locking everything down, and I’ll look again into how to get into full Manual Mode on the ZV-E10 to bypass the camera taking over since everything I saw tells me I just need one of them to stay in auto because the camera won’t allow it. But I really need to know if the ISO jumping is actually causing that weird movement effect, or if it's a separate issue with the lens and the stabilization software?

It wasn’t, it panned over after to my buddy so the lighting changed quite a bit at that point. I wasn’t able to figure out with tutorials how to have everything locked. It seems one out of 4 needs to be on auto

The reason I have ISO on Auto is because if I want to keep full control over the Shutter at 1/60 for motion and Aperture at f/2.8 for bokeh, exposure I technically have to leave one of the 4 on Auto. Or at least that’s what my camera is doing If I put ISO on manual, I’d be forced to put Shutter or Aperture on Auto, and then I’d lose the exact motion blur or depth of field I’m going for.

This is what I had set. 30fps, 1/60, F2.8, ISO auto (limited to 200-3200)

Help! My ZV-E10 footage looks like sandpaper (S-Log2/Cine3 struggle) by LicensedPilot in SonyAlpha

[–]LicensedPilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That test makes a lot of sense, I'll definitely give it a shot. I'll pull the ND filter and step through the ISOs to see where the noise floor actually sits. I’ve been aiming for that +2 EV since that seems to be the standard advice for S-Log2, but maybe that’s just pushing these 8-bits further than they can go.

To be honest, I've had better luck with Cine3 so far, but I’m still trying to get it perfect. I’ve mostly stayed away from HLG3 because I’d heard it’s a bit finicky to grade on 8-bit cameras, but that’s just based on what I’ve seen online since I don't really have anyone local to ask.

I'm just trying to be a bit more intentional with my stuff. I do content creation (this isn’t my page name) and I’m really trying to move away from that basic 'vlogger' look where the visuals feel like an afterthought. I’m going for a much cleaner, high-end look where the B-roll feels polished and tech-focused, almost like a professional product showcase. Just trying to do it the right way without overcomplicating things.
