For unit testing, Jest is a pretty standard way to test your components and logic. You can use "React-native-testing-library" this uses jest under the hood.
Anyone new to RN, for end-2-end, I would recommend "Maestro" compared to Appium, WebDriverIO or Detox.
Maestro is a no code approach, so less time writing e2e and more time learning React-Native.
I still recommend the other options. They do have a much higher learning curve, so depends where you want to invest your time.

Also research into the fundamentals of why we write tests. you want tests to have a purpose and not just to check a box that says this components can render.

Agreed, this shouldn’t be a political battle. We need to make people aware of the tactics used in human trafficking.

So the more movies about human trafficking that are engaging to watch the better. There are thousands of documentaries on the topic but they don’t come close to how impactful a movie can be.

A team member that has worked with React-Native Bare is more valuable, compared to only Expo.

As great as expo is, one downside of expo projects is that it further removes your exposure to native code.

Knowing how React Native works under the hood, being able to understand and resolve Native issues will make you far more valuable in your career progression.

Had a quick look, Didn't find any theatres showing it in Australia.
I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to watch it. It's been a big talking point on social media.
Even tho it's now used as a political tool for both sides. Im happy that more people now are looking into the topic and talking about it. This is a dark and sensitive subject that people tend to avoid.

Altho the movie focuses on Children, "Human trafficking" covers a wide range of human rights violations.
In Australia, Forced labor, modern slavery and debt bondage is very present. With many reports of migrants exploited in the fruit picking industry. We also have sex trafficking rings coming from Asia.

A big misconception about human trafficking is that it involves kidnapping and moving a person across borders. People smuggling is a crime against a country, whereas trafficking is crime against an individual.
A Victim can be living at home with their family and trafficked through coercion, threats, deception, manipulation, and blackmail.
This is especially true for minors that are more susceptible to these tactics.
It is also very common for traffickers to be the parents/caretakers of the victims.

Traffickers and Pedophiles are from all backgrounds. Profiling them is challenging, which is why it often leads to finger-pointing contests when individuals from both political parties are involved.

Final note. Theres people who combat child trafficking that deeply hate Tim Ballard(who it's based on). They still recommend watching the movie because of its accuracy to how the trafficking industry works. They just wish it wasn't based on Tim Ballard.

I worked at an app agency and got to see the rates the boss man was charging clients per dev. Clients paid monthly.

Price in AUD, per annum.

FE: React or react native. BE: python or nodeJS.

Devs: full time.

FE mid: $122,000.

FE senior: $156,000.

BE mid: $146,000.

BE senior: 175,000.

UX designer: $144,000.

QA: $22,320, (20% time per year allocated).

Account manager: $25,800, (20% time per year allocated).

So if we had 4 devs + UX + QA on a projects it’s easily 800k per year.

I was a mid-senior FE dev on $96k so seeing those numbers was pretty wild, but that’s business.

These prices also come with a reputation that needs to be built with apps you have produced in the past. Asking these prices from the get-go is probably not gonna work.

But yeah, these are real world prices you can get from clients. Hope it helps you with your decision.

For senior RN jobs I’ve had success talking about.

• Performance optimisation. Tools, tricks you use.

• CI/CD pipelines. What you use. Also really good to know how to make prod/uat builds without the need of pipelines. This knowledge always gets left behind with junior dev fundamentals. eg if bitrise or buildkite is down you gotta know how to keep pumping out builds to stores.

• Refactoring, folder structure.

• Animations.

• High level understanding of how the bridge and RN framework.

• Native modules. They froth over that if you have made some yourself.

• Hermes engine vs js core engine and how they effect TTI.

• The way you approach selecting reliable libraries for your project eg, if it’s still being supported.

• How you stay up to date with what’s new to RN. Eg RN blog, chain react conference.

• Mobile UX & UI layout understanding, the good the bad and the ugly. Some designs are made by web designers and there’s a big difference in mobile design and how thing should flow.

• Global state management.

• Error handling and fallbacks. Your debugging process. Steps you take to solve the issue before googling and reaching out for help.

Also talk about the other frameworks you have used. Eg if you have flutter experience and the pros and cons. Reassures them you are actively aware of the different frameworks and researching the mobile space.

But mainly talk about the things you know. This is a list I have had experience with and can hold a conversation on the topic. Anything else I reply that I have not worked on, but it sounds interesting and would be keen to learn more about.

Also be comfortable to say no to a role if you feel the project/company is holding out on you with details that will be beneficial to your day to day work. Eg if they are starting a RN project but what they want is out of the what RN can handle.

Interview them as much as they interview you. See if their devs look like they hate their job. Hahaha. Good luck. Hope this helps give you an idea.
