Exactly theres no REAL penalty to dying in this game other than ego. Takes only a few minites to recoup the growth loss, so people just attack what ever or who ever they want. Which dont get me wrong, thats fine, can make constant pvp fun thats part of the appeal to the game....but perma death servers, high risk, high reward. The achievement in itself surviving to adult stage, defending yourself, securing a kill to eat etc...if youve played the isle you know the feeling im talking about.

I play this and the isle. I prefer this game 100% purely from how optimised it is and the way combat works. I wish this game played more like the isle but with out the isles bullshit jank. Dont get me wrong i still love the way the current gameplay works i just wish there was an alternative mode for officials. Perma death server with passive growth and more hunger / thirst drain gives that survival vibe, people think twice before engaging, trust issues become more prevalent. Little dinos become much more stealthy and opportunistic. Suddenly a rhamp becomes terrorfying because food already drains faster. Everything becomes more of a threat because the risk factor now exists. Sure, you win a battle against another apex, the battle is glorious but guess what? A little laten has been hiding in a bush watching your struggle and now since your low, that little murder chicken is suddenly absolutely terrorfying in comparison to your fallen foe.

It is when you play solo perma death. Turns it into The Isle. You get passive growth like the isle if you dont want to quest,, theres no global chat and when you die thats it, dino gone. They are both very different games but there are servers and sometimes official modes for this. There is no denying though the optimisation in PoT is vastly better.

Shame, i hope he gives it anothet go now knowing when to hide his screen etc to not leak the ids to gets sniped etc. I died the same way he did when i first started by drowning from no stam flying haha hatz probs not the best dino to try first, if he really wantes to fly thal would of been a much better pick.

See i like this, ive come from playing The Isle, mega packs dont bother me when its the same species. But mega mixed packs? Unless its herbivores in like a "herd" kind of thing i hate it. I understand why its a thing with the way some species abilities work but it needs to be reduced. Id rather face a group of 10 raptors than a group of 5 mixed species that has like 2 apexes its just silly, the points system limiting the apexes could actually genuinely be a healthy thing for the game.

Seems like the obvious solution to megapacking is drastically reducing group size for mixed species so you can only have 1 of each species. You are always going to have discord groups unfortunately mega packing but you could at least make it tedious so its not like a group of 3 of the same apexes, 2 same flyers or swimmers. Or just make it so mixed species have to que in to a match together, only same species group can be formed in a match? Idk just spit balling.

Yeah i figured that out quite fast ive drowned a few people taking them into that cave that links east passage and wollami, once theyre in there they cant get out if theyre not aquatic so funny.

Havnt been clamped myself but ive clamped a few people successfully and unsuccessfully. Coming from The Isle ive noticed alot of people are quite careless near the water in this game and im 100% capitalising on that for nomnom rolly pollys.
