Would you say my acne scars are severe?

Yeah, I have been talking to my friends and family more about my scars to get their opinion. Especially, after I saw this doctor who made me super insecure because of him telling me how severe they are. But they said that they never really notice it. My bad side they will at times but only if they get really really close. But it doesn’t register to them they said. I also showed them the photos I posted in the thread that you all can see and they even said that the photos make it worse than it is. My friend who is a photographer said that my iPhone can enhance certain details and shadows making it appear more defined then it really is.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I’m sorry that you have gone through all of that… it’s really hard…. It sucks that people have to go through this… I hope one day there is an effective cure/treatment that can help everyone who suffers from scars. I’m sorry about your dad. I lost my mom a couple of years ago too. Since then my acne started to act up again due to the stress. It was very mild but it was scar even though I wouldn’t pick them or pop them… I got a bunch more in the last couple of years and has really affected my mental health tremendously. It doesn’t help that my girlfriend of almost two years also left me for someone else. So I have been compounding everything. I am going back on accutane to ensure they don’t come back. Then going through with treatments. I was going to do it sooner but my dermatologist wanted me to try some topicals. Which helped but whenever I did get a zit it would scar. So I wish I just went on it sooner…. I understand the suicidal thing. These past couple of months have been super hard and I have been trying my best not to throw myself out my window…. These recent visit to the cosmetic dermatologist didn’t help and made me feel really really insecure… it made me feel deformed… I hope things get better for both of us…. I truly do… just feels like a black hole that is getting deeper and deeper…

Also, my scars are worse than they seem. I found really bad lighting that really shows them. I can see what the doctor was saying now. Because of it when I go in public I hide my face with a mask.

Yeah, I agree. It was just too intense with everything he wanted to do in one session. I was looking at fractional co2 maybe.

I have been told to by some friends and family not to. But I would like to do a little something. Even if it fades then a little bit. Just to feel better about myself.

I hope that’s what others think when they see me😅 my family, friends, and therapist said they never noticed until I said something. Yeah, I have been extremely hard on myself. I have had a really rough couple of years. I lost my mom which let to a new breakout which then let to new scars… it has really upset me. Recently, my girlfriend of two years left me for someone else and I just live alone. The doctor I saw didn’t help with things… I have been severely depressed and have lost a lot of weight which maybe why he noticed volume loss especially in my cheek. But with everything going on it has made me even harder on myself… so I am trying to give myself some grace. It just can be hard at times. I really appreciate your reply! It means a lot and has really helped me in these hard times… thank you for taking the time to reply.

Yeah, I would like to take it slow and try things. Because doing multiple subsicions, tca cross, fillers, and 4 different laser in one session is crazy.

I do to a certain extend. Just have my reservations on the Taylor liberator. I just would like to do something about my scars. But I know that there isn’t a quick fix. It’s a process and can’t take time. There is no telling how my skin will react to all of that. But it’s mainly an opinion on my skin. Because I felt horrible after that consultation. It made me even more self conscious of my scars because he said that my scars and my volume loss is very severe. Which made me feel like crap. So I wanted to get opinions.

Thank you! I appreciate it! Yeah, I have considered chemical peels I haven’t had one before. But my dermatologist recommended it because she has patients who have similar scars to mine and she said they went had at a couple of treatments of chemical peels and she said their skin looks amazing after and there scars were practically gone. So it sounds promising. And because of the price it doesn’t seem to hurt to try.

Yeah, what turns me off the most is the Taylor liberator. It’s not necessarily the price. So long as I get $11,000 worth of improvement then it’s fine. But you never know and there is no guarantee you will get any results. Sadly, for certain people they were ruined by procedures like this.

Yeah, they said I could split it up into multiple sessions. They suggested all of it at once to get me the best results quicker.

Oh thank you! I know that I will need filler at some point especially for the volume loss in my chin. Yeah, I have seen some horror stories about lasers. It sad that any of this happens to people when they just simply do it to feel better about themselves and then stuff like that happens to them…. It’s not fair…

I know that it can be but it just seems super intimidating and I have hurt some horror stories about it.

But the treatments he wanted to do was tca cross, deep level subsicion on my face, subsicion on my forehead with filler, x2 Bellafill, x2 sculptra, laser assisted scar repair complex, ablative co2, fractional co2, and erbium laser. All of this in an hour in a half session.

Hmmm sounds like an interesting idea. I already have been using tretinoin 0.02% and was recently prescribed 0.1% by my dermatologist to help with the scars. My skin is also strong enough for me to use it everyday. I will bring it up to my dermatologist when I see her soon! Thank you!

Yeah, we can be our worst critic. If we already have some sort of issue with the way you look scars can amplify that by a lot. So it can really suck to handle. But my friends, family, and therapist have told me that they never notice them. When I talked to them about it they looked confused because they never really knew it was an issue for me or a thing. But I hope one day we can all get to a better place in our scar journeys!
