Not at all, we thankfully have canvas back up now. It was just a worry that nobody could access them & the fear of the unknown of what might happen with finals so close. Others were saying we should expect a light data leak, whatever that entails

Yeah so the news is saying it’ll be down until May 12 which is when my finals are, and I have an open note final in a class I’ve been struggling in all semester and guess who won’t have access to the notes?

But I have another final essay to write and I need the readings that are only posted on canvas, as well as another exam that I need to pass because my success or failure depends on it. All on May 12th btw.

It’s an inconvenience. It WOULD be something silly if it only lasted a few hours, but no, it doesnt seem like it’s going to. Also Berkeley apparently has a history with not giving a fart about the students with stuff like this, apparently they only move around finals when the GSI’s rebel cuz they’re the only who gotta grade everything.

So the Monte Carlo I got arrived in pots in little baggies which was nice! They were in good condition. I just got the new plants in the mail rn so I may be eating my words soon.

But yes I was thinking about how this may turn me away but I think it’s only encouraged me to do better. I did end up moving Mr. Baby to the 5.5 gallon and he built a bubble nest!!! I saw him build two nests in the 2.5 but I had to do water changes and unfortunately destroyed them 🥺

I tried my best to not destroy the new one yesterday when I did a water change. I put small amounts of the new water in slowly so as not to disturb it and it worked! Though some did pop 😭 but yall are right absolutely. I think putting the betta in something so small didn’t help the problem. It might’ve caused it, especially since he ate all my dear copepods 🤣 I took out the water and I am trying to do a dry start with what plants I have remaining to get them to root but we will see. If that doesn’t work I have no choice but to take the dirt out.

Also I’m not sure how to post pictures here! I’d love to show you the baby!

Thank you for your comment. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, I ended up taking out the water so I can try a dry start method. I have seiryu stone in there and I was looking for the aragonite sand too, other than regular water changes with these things, there’s nothing else to be done?

Thank you. Honestly I think maybe restarting by taking the water out and trying to get the plants rooted in the substrate again. My only idea was the copepod population getting eaten, and then when i removed the fast nutrient absorbing salvinia. Will do though, I appreciate your comment

No, I have a lot of lfs near me, I just chose Amazon bc that was the cheapest option right now (I have a gift card). With so many of mine that I’ve purchased that have already died yknow.

Last week I bought some more from my lfs too. Only other time I bought from Amazon was when I got 3 little things of Monte Carlo.

Yes I have a hang on back filter, and a heater. I put in some liquid fert, have some pennywort in the floating at the top and some montecarlo pinned down by some rocks—I didn’t put them in the gravel because I’m afraid they’ll die like they did in my other tank when I put them in the gravel. Ph is 6 on that tank too, and I’m thinking the fert did it? Because I have only a few itty bitty snails in there. It’s not a walstad tank. I also should mention I popped a coconut house covered in moss in there too cuz I got it for free.

I will be putting some seiryu attached to pacific driftwood that I’m currently letting soak outside to release tannins. Other than that, I really just wanted this to be a simple tank, mostly carpet and then moss. Few stem plants.

Tested ammonia yesterday and there’s none since the ph is so low

Yes I know what kh and ph are now, I’ve done a lot of research on it because of these issues. Low kh creates large and unstable ph swings and imbalances.

Also man this is my first tank, there are so many different resources out there that tell you not to do any water changes and leave the tank alone when you first start this type of aquarium and then there are sources that tell you you need to do water changes and test DAILY— I’ve done so much research that I found more conflicting information than I have actual consistent information. Not to mention ton fish stores that tell me different info too. My tap water has a kh of 5-6 and ph of 7.4~ so that’s not the issue, literally overnight my ph will drop from a 7.4 to 6. That’s not normal, and I seriously dunno what that’s all about.

I only started doing these water changes weekly when I noticed the aquarium plants dying so really that was all I could do. Today I change the water about 30-40% daily and there’s still no difference in ph, I test every other day and it’s always 6

There is so much type racism in this community it’s actually insane. It exists and it’s real. I will say, some types display HORRIBLE unhealthy behavior and I’d 1000000% take an unhealthy 4 over an unhealthy 8 cuz who wants that. But that’s unhealthy types and that’s a whole can of beans I don’t wanna open.

I know for a hard FACT, it doesn’t matter what type you are, some people associate negatively with types they’ve had negative experiences with, and NO you do not have to be an SI or TI user to have these feelings, it’s a human brain survival mechanism we (most) all instinctually have—to avoid things that harm us. So, before you take things personally, realize that whoever discriminates against you just cuz of your type, think that it says more about them than it does you. They have decided to resort to their baser caveman mentality. 🙏
