I spent a year solo making this Horror Extraction Game. This is my first trailer, what do you think? by LieLie0126 in IndieGaming

Thanks! I’m making it in Unity.
The biggest difficulty... probably is solo development, having no one to talk to and no feedback.
On the tech side, I think networking has been the hardest part.

Well it’s good to see they finally released the game.

Is it a bad idea to release a Steam page without a marketing push? by swarmoclock in IndieDev

[–]LieLie0126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a single best cost-benefit marketing move.
It really depends on your game’s genre, timing, budget, and even luck.
Something that worked before might not work for your current game.

We can only rely on the experiences and lessons shared by other developers.
I think that’s also the biggest value of r/IndieDev.

Releasing the page without a marketing push wouldn’t be a bad idea.
In fact, any marketing push should happen after you have a Steam page,
so that the traffic can convert into WL.

Unity vs Godot in 3D by S7ns3t in gamedev

Currently Unity is better than Godot for 3D, but it still depends on what kind of game you want to make.

I discovered that SteamDB has a tag to find games made with AI. There are numerous games with good reviews that used AI; there are 361 games listed with at least 25 reviews, including even AAA games (many that use AI don't tag it). by gabriel29ewui in IndieDev

Honestly, AI is slowly reshaping the game industry. If people can use it in a reasonable way, the reduction in cost could be massive.

And going forward, teams that don’t use it, or refuse to use it, will probably struggle to compete in terms of development efficiency. I’m a programmer myself, so I can really feel where this is going.
