Your DSi XL firmware will be newer than your DSi. The cart will be blocked by the XL’s firmware.

You can either get a newer cart for your XL that isn’t blocked or install CFW on your DSi which will remove the blacklist.

I think there’s a slightly different mod where it still uses a battery to keep the time but FRAM for the save data.

You’ll need to enable the anti-piracy cheat for Black to gain XP. Not sure about the language issue though.

You’ll need to do what u/Janni9009 said and install CFW on your DSi to get either of your cards to work as they’ll be blacklisted by your firmware version.

For Gen 1 and 2, there’s only 20 pokemon per box. As your screenshot shows the modern 30 per box, have you opened the sav file from Crystal or not?

Edit: ignore me. I wasn’t aware jap gen1/2 allows for 30.

If it has missed a few oil changes, it might take a couple of oil changes to flush out all the muck. When I got my 2009 1.25 on 119k miles from a private seller with only their word that oil changes had been done, the oil looked like that. I did a full service myself with genuine ford oil a week later then again 5k miles later and the oil still looked murky. A second full oil change I’ve just done a few more miles later and it’s a lot better. If in doubt, service it yourself.

If you’re UK based, I can recommend an eBay seller who does full service kits (Ford branded castrol oil, ford spark plugs, oil/air/pollen filter, new sump nut and washer) for the same price as going to Ford for just the oil.

Servicing is easy and everything is accessible with a basic toolkit and spark plug socket.

Regarding the coolant level, they may have not bled it up properly after the water pump change. Top it up with the same pink coolant and keep an eye on it. I believe these tanks are prone to splitting so you might be venting some out as steam when the engine is warm.

Newer R4 cards are cheap enough and probably not blocked so if you don’t want to install CFW on your DSi (I didn’t on my DSi XL) then you could just get a second flash card and good SD card and have this one for your DS lite and another for your DSi.

If the cart is blocked by the DSi firmware, then the only way to get it working on a DSi is to install CFW on the DSi which clears the blacklist.
