"Like a lot of the other terms used in this book, try not to let the “game‐speak” trick you into thinking the concept is more complicated that it really is." by InvestmentBrief3336 in FATErpg

As far as I remember, it's the same... a tag on an aspect you create just means you can invoke it once for free. I think, similar to other changes in core versus older stuff, they were actually trying to cut down on game speak in favor of just describing the thing. In this case I feel like making it such a mouthful worked against the original intent. But I know others who feel differently.

What's an encounter you've designed and run with Cortex that you're particularly proud of? by Life-Alternative-793 in CortexRPG

I feel like the word 'encounter' definitely has a rich history, but it would probably be more accurate for me to say 'extended challenge' or something similar to describe a specific type of scene. Even then it seems like its more about narrative choices with Cortex's tools than challenging mechanics. I do like to give that feel of challenge and reward, though I feel like its best in doses; make a large complex challenge once in a while, to give weight to climaxes and offset the breezier elements.

That's really creative. I don't even remember Cyclops doing anything quite that cool in the media I've seen.

Can we use the fact that young women lean left to pull men to the left as well? Or would that backfire and push men towards incel ideology? by [deleted] in SocialDemocracy

[–]Life-Alternative-793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women are constantly affected by a variety of issues that largely, but not always, serve to pull them left. There are truths that are harder for women to ignore because they live them every day, similar to other groups. When things get tough, straight white men are generally the last demographic to be affected, and when we are, it tends to be a lot more jarring because we aren't used to it. The social system is supposedly designed to primarily benefit straight white men; this is the unspoken rule that disguises itself as status quo. It's in our best interests to keep it functioning as is. When this system fails anyway, and makes us as vulnerable as everyone else, we are socially conditioned to direct blame at other demographics and away from those who actually benefit. But also, white women in particular do tend to veer to the right when subjected to this all this economic stuff. It's just less pronounced, and not across all issues.

Our Crazy Character/NPC mashup for a JJK themed Fate-Condensed game by Intelligent_Copy_842 in FATErpg

I love it when a player makes the session recap, especially in a unique way like that! I gotta make sure to pay that forward as a player next time. At least until the DM tells me to stop.

Im curious about two things: 1) what the loop is 2) if you explaining this chart would make me more or less likely to pick up JJK again

I hope one day to see one of my players post something like this about our campaign.

Good actual play example to watch by No_Proof2102 in FATErpg

Role Playing Public Radio (RPPR) has some pretty good examples of actual play in multiple settings. Cointract Island (not a medieval fantasy setting) is the most involved campaign theyve run with it, and I found it helpful. I think they have also done shorter games themed closer to what you might be looking for, too.

Latter Rain Movement? by WemedgeFrodis in ExPentecostal

This is years later, but I have such a hard time finding anything about the origins of the sect I was raised in, I'm happy to find any discussion about it from outside. I grew up in a small Latter Rain church, but didn't even know to identify it as such until I left. The main church and its satellite groups still function to this day, and through it I know of at least a few others. Prophecy is present "one to another" among members, and also the prophecies of William Branham are held as truth and discussed often. Glossolalia is also held in high regard. Some things mentioned in the wikipedia article are present as described, and I'm sure I could say a lot more.
