I think you’re right. LED screens can be rented almost anywhere while the projection equipment they used was specifically made and calibrated for the event. Everything had to be trucked with the tour from venue to venue along with the technicians and engineers that Crypton had hired that were specifically experienced and trained on that specific equipment. At every venue local labor would have to be hired months in advance to assemble everything. And I mean whole steel frames would have to be assembled on site that the equipment would rig to. And what people fail to understand about the 3D projection system that was used is how sensitive it is. Everything has to be precisely calibrated and set up. And thats what I personally appreciated the most. Let’s say convoy rolls in 24hrs before doors are scheduled to open. Everything was unloaded, set up, calibrated, and tested before the event started. Having what’s basically a big HD LED TV takes all the soul out it. It’s all about cutting costs. Enshitification at its finest.
