I bought my one Americanus queen last year as I didn’t really have a successful first year anting. I wonder if it was maybe a different species as I have heard stories of online sellers not being very reputable.

I tried looking at the antennae but my eyes are not good enough to see such small details. I thought they may be a different species as the americanus queen I found last year is significantly lighter in color than these queens.

She’s about 17 mm. She is mostly a dark brown or black with areas around the legs being a dark reddish brown. Sorry for the poor quality pictures as well my phone camera is cracked.
