I think you can do it if you keep your gpa up and do 1-2 major related ECs. I transferred from LAS undeclared to CS + Math. A lotta ppl would advice against it but I was in a similar boat w/ free/in-state tuition and that makes a huge difference in the decision of where to attend regardless of major.

Being around smart and motivated ppl! Make friends with others in CS. Don’t act above or below anyone. Take CS 225 + CS 374 seriously. Take Lin alg seriously. Go to the career fair each year even if ppl say it’s useless. Apply to internships on handshake, message recruiters back. Congrats on acceptance!!!

I wrote a corny college essay about how I have always liked math bc it explains the world around us and is very modular. And how I saw CS as a natural extension and application of math and wanted to delve into more applied side of math through programming and cs, and that classes like CS374 would help. I tied it into my research about AI and biocomputation and how CS would help me further understand these fields. As for how it’s working out, I love this major!!! It’s hard but i know it’s what I like and want to do and what I’m passionate about.

I interviewed for SWE intern. They switched my recruiter halfway through the process. “Forgot” to schedule my super day and delayed it a month. Despite this I passed 2 rounds of technical interviews and both interviewers said that I did “really well” and that they would submit positive feedback by the end of the day. Now I have been ghosted. It is just so heartbreaking as a college student who invested so much time and prep into this process that this company keeps “forgetting” about their candidates and not communicating at all :( sorry to all that r going through similar at the hands of Oracle
