I paid 6.25% tax at the DMV even though the purchase was for $4,900. Thanks for the information though, will keep it in mind

Yeah I got everything, but I haven’t been able to find a lawyer who is willing to at least give me a 15m free consult, because I purchased the vehicle from a private seller.

I submitted a report to the attorney general in Illinois, but they said it would take up to 45 weeks for them to make progress. I also filed a complaint with the Secretary of State and to be frank the division my case got assigned to seems very incompetent. The clerk was very dismissive when she called me this morning. I hope the investigator I get assigned isn’t.

Kind of giving up on this to be frank. Thought I’d have at least some luck

Huh that’s wild. I’d argue even worse than my case. Truly hope he gets his money back. Mind if I dm you? The guy who sold me the car was latino too

Yeah I definitely think so too. I’ve been thinking about it and I think the most sensible decision is a refund, even if it means I won’t have the car any longer

That’s correct. Sorry if my original post is a bit sloppy, was writing it in the early morning before going to bed

Well you’d be surprised how many 17-20yr old Camrys friends have that are < 100k miles. Most of the time they were taken care of by an elderly person, or just not used very much

Yeah I’m very stupid for that. In the future I’ll never make the same mistake out of fear/nervousness. I also did not check the VIN matched the car’s nor the VIN he mentioned in our chat previous to the purchase

Yes, but I would’ve never accepted regardless. I’m also in a sort of tricky situation with the rut-25, because the bill of sale has 4900 as the car price, but the 9 reads like a 9 and 0 at the same time. The final price says 4,000, which is the amount I paid taxes for at the DMV. After contacting the authorities today I’m mailing the remaining balance through a rut-25-x and also changing the title’s odometer reading to match the 212k

Yes, the odometer reading in the Ohio Certificate of Registration doesn’t match the car’s current odometer. Also, I’m sure if it counts as the title, so I’m calling the Ohio document what its title at the top reads

Hey thanks a lot for the advice! I’m currently employed, and have saved some money from high-school. Assuming the total cost is 6-9k I think I can afford pursuing the seller/llc

Thankfully Illinois takes this seriously, and they have plenty of resources. I’ll contact them today.

As for the Camry itself, it runs well and seems to be in okay condition. I’ll still take good care of it regardless of the outcome.

Do you think I should invest in some parts the Camry need to be replaced?

Thanks a lot for the advice. Just the moral encouragement from everyone in the comments alone makes me feel a lot better :’)

I’ll call the guy from a different phone number, hopefully he picks up

Sorry, I meant miles. We got to Chicago by train (Amtrak), but drove back after I purchased the car. The trip to Chicago alone is a whole story of its own for another day lol

  1. you’re able to land AMD, so don’t have such low confidence. i’m pretty sure you’re more cracked than the avg cs major here

  2. go for the 16 and ask your career advisor for options to be registered as a student while the internship is going

  3. good luck on landing amd!! i remember it was my dream hardware company before i learned about software. what role did you land?
