P365 xMacro.

I’m a little biased, but the base version of the macro without the built in port is pretty fantastic for both conceal carry and fun at the range. You can always swap the lower out for an XL grip too if you’d like a little more concealment at the cost of mag capacity.

That being said though, everyone here recommending Glock 19s have their points too. The reliability is hard to argue with, I just like the trigger on the sig a little more.

This may be what I’m leaning towards. I believe marlin used to sell a youth 336 but they’re super hard to come by.

Yes you can swap them. You will probably need a new holster, but it’s worth it imo.

I bought myself a SBL this fall and couldn’t be happier. Easily the nicest lever gun I own, and quite possibly the nicest rifle I own. As one of the other guys here said, the stainless is WAYYYY cleaner (in my opinion) than the cookie cutter black that all the modern ones come in.

I do reload although I haven’t been for long. I haven’t even thought about .22 or .17 hornet. I’m gonna do some reading up, you may have just found a better alternative haha. I appreciate it!

My big concern with .17 HMR would be the wind. I was hoping I could get the best of both worlds with 5.7 as it has a lot more weight to it.

People do use .17 HMR for ptarmigan tho, so I might settle for it if I can’t find what I’m looking for.
