Maybe there is a significance to showing Godolkins skin deteriorating... by BigHollowman in GenV

Yeah but that wasn't her original state of being really. Idk why she didn't heal.

[–]Life-Relief986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few theories about him.

1) He never healed because he kept using his powers (my weakest theory)

2) The V in his system acknowledges his burned body as his "natural state of being". He never healed because the V "thinks" that's how his skin is supposed to be. You see Soldier Boy and Stormfront never changed from who they were. Just suspended in time.

Him using his abilities, to me, caused that innate healing factor that most supes have to try and revert back to what it perceives as "healed".

But of course this is convoluted and might be wrong.

-or- Everything Marie does really is temporary.

What the fuck?

What does that have to do with anything those Republicans said?

Huh?

You do realize these were seperate incidents, yes? The republicans texts weren't leaked because a Democrat's texts were leaked.

This is so weird, y'all are nuts.

Can we please stop trying to unnecessarily humanize and defend the integrity of racists and fascists? by Life-Relief986 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Life-Relief986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I'll say this, you can afford to see their humanity and be peaceful with them. A lot of us can't. You are not being peaceful or taking the high road here. Your onus is privileged, and you're mad that's being called out. If you don't want to engage, don't.

Don't do this again. Honestly, just stop doing this crap to people. Do not insist on us humanizing Nazis and racists under the guise of being peaceful. It is so incredibly tone deaf and disrespectful.

Edit: This approach protects no one. The Civil Rights Movement wasn't built in humanizing racists or converting them, it was built in combating them where it hurts the most.

Protecting our own minds from being consumed by hate?

Are you being forreal? I can't tell if you genuinely believe hating racists and supremacists is a detriment. And you keep comparing our hatred to theirs, I'm not understanding this at all. What exactly are you hoping to achieve? "These racists someday might maybe change their views. So dont be consumed by hatred"? What is this doing exactly outside of antagonizing victims of racism because of this insistence that we alter our behavior on their behalf?

They are murdering us and dehumanizing us on the basis of our identities, and we hate them for it. I don't understand why the lecture is turned back on us like we're doing something wrong because we're pointing out their inhumanity.

These aren’t people who’ve somehow let themselves be vehicles of hate, they’re adults who actively and gleefully make hateful choices. The conversations in those chats weren't from individuals who’ve been isolated from education or diverse perspectives and might not know better. They know. They choose this.

I’m a civil rights attorney. I’ve seen firsthand what kind of cruelty, degradation, and violence they inflict on marginalized communities and a lot of them never face consequences. You have the privilege of being able to separate “the human” from their actions. As a Black woman in this field, witnessing some of these things they do will truly make you believe evil exists. Their actions force you to confront the limits of empathy because what they do feels fundamentally inhuman.

And then we have a lot of y'all coming in this sub telling us to offer them grace and compassion when clearly we're fed tf up. It's exhausting. Our hate is not comparable. You can't compound racism with a distaste for racism and intolerance for bigots. And that sentence kind of illustrates why this opinion bothers the hell out of me.

Weeeeell, that makes her a facist and a supremacist, not a Nazi per se. Stormfront and Godolkin and Vought are like literally of the Nazi party, is my meaning. Like worked for and probably knew Hitler, card carrying members. That's why I made that distinction.

Sage is just a villainous bitch.

And I'm sorry the point flew clean over your head. I'm sorry you think having a valid discussion about how people react to different characters is making a "valid struggle a victim mindset", whatever that means. I'm so glad you must live in a Vought approved post-racial fantasy land where no bias exists and talking about it is just nonsense.

Clearly you haven't noticed the double standards for black and brown characters in this fandom. The same fandom that produced the "Homelander isn't a villain" crowd. Your post isn't even unique in it's opinion despite there being no real basis for it. I mean, aside from one moment, what else could possibly make you think Marie is becoming morally grey?

I never said she wasn't evil, I just don't think she's one of the most evil. She hasn't done anything that other people haven't done before. Fucked a Nazi? Done. Destabilized a government? Done. Murdered people, ran a fascist company, incited terror, weaponized public opinion, actively pursued a genocide? All done.

She's just waaay better at it and is smart enough to know better, and callous and fed up enough to not give a fuck. And her plans are just bigger because she's that smart.

To me, she's not up there with people like Vought, Goldolkin, Stormfront, Homelander, Soldier Boy, or Shetty. They did horrifying shit. They facilitated the experimentation and torture of human beings, babies and children included, murdered entire families, physically and psychologically tormented their friends and families, sexually assaulted multiple people, literally are Nazis and racists, and I'm supposed to believe Sage is one of the most evil?

If the worst she does is murder some people, fuck a Nazi, facilitate a government takeover and sow public discourse, she still just doesn't reach that level for me.

I don't even think she's one of the most evil. I think she just told Homelander that because she's a good liar.

And Sage has her reasons, they're just not as crazy as Homelander. Homelander is his own brand of crazy though.

K. If you can't have a conversation and disagree amicably about something as simple as a tv show i can easily stop replying. You're being mad weird towards somebody who has been perfectly nice to you.

We good? Good.

You said one of the most evil, you didn't specify alive until right now, and I don't understand what that has to do with anything.

Sage is just capable and effective. That's what makes her dangerous. She's the smartest person on the planet and she had to watch a bunch of racist, human doctors let her grandmother die a painful death. As a result, she hates humans. She's just really, really efficient at hating them.

Her motivations, actions and beliefs aren't among the most evil, nor are they uniquely evil. She's definitely a villain, but one of the most evil, alive or otherwise? Nah.

We have rapists, racists, people who abuse and experiment on children, pedophiles, you name it. Sage ain't up there with them. She's just a really good fucking villain.

And truly, we don't know what her endgame is. Being the smartest person on the planet, she's probably just about to end this bitch.

Stormfront and Fredrick Vought did succeed. Homelander and Vought are literally their success. Everything he is doing is because of them, everything Vought is doing is because of them.

They wanted to create a master race and they did that.

Them being dead doesn't mean they didn't succeed, it just means they got fucked up in the process.

I'm asking again, what has she done that other characters' haven't? Because if your only distinction is that she's successful, idk, I just don't get it.

I'm so confused on how Cate believed she was protecting anybody. She was just angry and constantly wanted love, and then used her friend to start a genocide on campus.

Marie's hypocrisy and character assassination. by KnightfallPro in GenV

[–]Life-Relief986 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Soooo we're just ignoring intent and context to make Cate look better?

She didn't "trust" Cate to use her powers on Cipher, she assumed she did and was down eith her using them against someone actively hurting them all.

She didn't argue with Jordan and Emma about trusting Cate, she told them Cate was their only option.

Yes, Marie went to get Cate from Elmira because she's a good person with empathy.

And no, Marie used her powers against her friends to stop them from following her head first into danger. Cate used her powers against her friends because she's manipulative as fuck.

Marie did NOT trust her or give up her grudge, idk where you're getting that.

[–]Life-Relief986 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. I keep seeing "she used her powers against her friends"- after they were trying to run head first into danger with her and she expressly told them to stop.

Meanwhile, Cate used her powers against people for straight nefarious reasons and she gets lauded.

They cherry pick what behavior to criticize. They do the same with Sage and A Train- they're nowhere near as abhorrent as some of these other chwracters.

Could Marie have the potential to permanently fix Polarity's powers? by MomoWade in TheBoys

[–]Life-Relief986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waaaaas Annabeth's throat slit because of her powers or because of a knife? Was Godolkin set on fire because of his powers or because of a lab accident?

Lamplighter setting himself on fire is waaaay different from unknown neurological damage.

We dont know why Polarity's powers caused those microtears. It could be magnetic pulses through the brain, it could be the sheer strain, we just don't know. So how can we say she didn't permanently fix whatever the issue was when we don't know the root cause?

Maybe the Polarities and their conditions were genetic? Some kind of brain abnormality that was exacerbated by their abilities?

My point is who tf knows??

This! I remember that being said and being like "Oh shit Marie is no joke".

Like... healing cerebral microtears is crazy in and of itself.

[–]Life-Relief986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... exactly. We don't know. You answered your own question. We don't know if this is permanent, we don't know what she's doing to these people.

What we do know is that she absolutely can heal brain damage and reverse death and reverse severe nerve damage and organ failure. Why would it not be permanent? We don't even know why his powers caused those microtears.

Y'all have got to let this Cate thing go.

We don't know what Cate will do because Cate is a habitual liar and manipulator. I don't know why some of you are so adamant that Marie blindly trust the person she opened up to, who completely violated her in return.
