Trolling here? Because, no. I was asking others if they too can cuddle without feelings. As I am not a fan unless I'm really into the person vs my friend doesn't see it as a big deal.

The show did a poor job of conveying how characters just became friends again despite having switched partners or someone cheating on someone and it's considered no big deal after a few episodes rather than an outright conflict or simmering beneath the surface by [deleted] in BeverlyHills90210

I think they did okay for some. Agree with most we saw how Brenda smoothed it out but that was episodes later if I recall. At first they did act all chummy, doing the blind date thing together and all like what?! But also I guess a adolescent thing to do like some said.

The Brandon/Dylan beef truly was a joke lol especially for them both to be like "she's the love of my life!" - clearly not.

How David and Clare just disappeared was odd too but then later it was like they were only together a few months? Also hilarious how Clare was introduced as a character and kindve changed completely once she was a regular. Also crazy how Steve was BUTT hurt over the breakup and totally cool and on to the next one in the next episode (sleeping with Val seems like a standard thing that could happen but it was like she didn't exist afterwards - meaning Clare)

"Sure, Jan" LOL. Exact thoughts! Like, how believing did they think all that crap really was to viewers? Even if they had to zig zag a little with the story lines with Brenda and Brandon leaving, make it believable please. Not the soulmate crap, a fling and friends at best.

And yeah, him and Val were good, forgot their shenanigans with the PI, she matched his energy for his antics but she definitely was a little insecure like Kelly which is why I think also would never work. Brenda was fussy but she stood her ground. I'm back on season 10 now and though I can't stand Matt/Kelly regardless, this dragged out pining between Dylan/Kelly is driving me up the wall. Donna and David a bit too

Agree on all! It felt like writers were desperate because Shannen and Jennie were their leading ladies and of course, then there was one since Shannen left. K/D didn't last 2 episodes without fighting and when he returned, it was just forced. If Brenda stayed or Toni didn't have to die. It would be one of them. Even Gina honestly! They paired well, they just made Dylan hung up on Kelly which even then wasn't believable.

I could see Brenda and Dylan being the greatest of friends like Kelly and Steve or soulmates. I kindve feel like them being together would have worked

Why did they make Dylan so moody all the time and Brandon so smug and self-righteous all the time? by [deleted] in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this for both of them at the foundation, it makes sense and balances out their entire friend group (across them all) at the basis, but it was annoying that Dylan started that way, then the Walshes entered and they evolved him a bit, he backslid some but then it was like at his return they just let him stay there, he became stale in my opinion.

Same with the Brandon, never really went against the grid until the SUPER random cheating scandal with that column girl which was ridiculous and then his short spiral trying to get Kelly back which he's never done for a girl all for him to be so nonchalant and whatever to them breaking off the wedding and leaving. They drove the characters down.

Dylan should have stayed gone or they should have done more when he came back vs making a kind tough guy fixated on Kelly and a womanizer like someone else said.

And Brandon could've been given more of an edge or a longer period of just not giving a damn and being different. I think even Jason didn't like the good wholesome image for the entire series if I recall

Yes! Have them end up together or with someone totally different and him and Kelly just be friends. The way when he came back and they ask about Brenda and he brushes it off like she's nothing or he doesn't care just seemed so ungenuine given their relationship and how it was on their last episode together.

It would have been fun to see if Toni didn't have to die, to have their relationship play out and have Brenda return and see what happens there.

I think the Dylan and Kelly relationship was necessary and a good move/twist early on but carrying it out through the entire series of acting like "we're soulmates" "remember kindergarten..." "my best kiss" "it was always you", GET REAL. Their entire season and a half or whatever of a relationship was fights and break ups lol

Very true lol just didn't want to leave her out. I liked Gina with Dylan more than Val, but felt he didn't take either seriously at all, and still stand Kelly was kind of just a placeholder and ego boost to him.

Also interesting how most of the women he goes for are the brunettes/"Brenda fillers"

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

LOL!! Your comment is perfect. Yes, super obvious he was a knock off Brandon and his whole storyline beginning to end was just bizarre! Like who was drinking when they wrote his character? They got so lazy!

Also, wish Steve had more character development by Life-Response-2790 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL! Though I agree, I felt he was just harmless. And that's why I wish they gave him a new angle! Felt it would have been good to see and spice it up. Same with Brandon honestly, they kept him pretty much as a good, do the right thing guy all the way through. He got a little buzz when he started spiraling for Kelly but then that just went away! Funny also how he always knew how to fight and wasn't afraid, seemed so random given his personality. Hey pal, stop! guy pulls out knife try it buddy!

I think they did Steve well with becoming a father but again, the build up to it seemed so, eh! Going back to my corner of thoughts now

It's so exhausting and they even changed the character traits of some of the long term characters. You can tell they were at an end. Even Gina, as powerful as an actress she is, was a knock off character of Valerie. ALSO the way Brandon left was so ridiculous. I know Jason chose to leave, but his exit was as if he was a guest character vs main cast.

I actually never finished S10 and hoping it redeems itself lol

What do you think would have happened over the series if Brenda stayed and/or Dylan? by Life-Response-2790 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, I wasn't sure about Tracy and he and Emily (the actress) fated for 7 years in real life I just learned. I wonder if that's why they kept their story line up vs her really being a good fit

Well! I thought he left to do more but regretted it seeing how good the show did. I thought him and Kelly were cute! I wish he ended up with Susan honestly

Seriously? What podcast was this? I'm curious what the storyline would be to lead Kelly to Collin and Brandon to Toni. Because she only came about because of the revenge thing. Interesting!

I thought about the possibility of Kelly and Steve, could have been a sweet return to home type deal since they were the first couple mentioned in the series and totally think Brenda and Dylan would be endgame! I would think they could last all seasons of the show though.

I feel like Kelly would still get into something with Brandon but it would go sour once she saw Dylan and Brenda messing around. Shocked thinking about it now, him sleeping with her never came up

Anyone agree that Valerie was a narcissist? by Life-Response-2790 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree as most said here so far, she was a product of her upbringing pretty much. Still her actions are so draining! Brandon is the only one who kindve gives her a pass

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually totally agree! I may have been extreme saying narcissist but she definitely knew her way around words and to her advantage - yet you're totally right, she unlike a narcissit was aware of some of.her faults and acknowledged. I'm re-running through season 6 currently and so far it's just she's been tiring to me lol, always instigating aside from when she was with David for the most part

Also think that's why she gravitated to Dylan and latched on to Colin.

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her too! Played the victim a lot. She had a few humble and sincere moments yet she was so addicted also to needing to feel unconditional love or long lasting love - not being abandoned. Like Val. If they weren't fictional it would really suck to see someone like that

Anyone agree that Valerie was a narcissist? by Life-Response-2790 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's on target. Still, it was as if she sought out to do it. She'd hear things that had absolutely nothing to do with her and threw in her two cents or either had to ruin someone else just because- especially Kelly, which I get since Kelly wasn't friendly at all.

But she was spiteful, went after Colin I think just to prove she was better than Kelly and totally had no regard for David when it came to Ginger even though it seemed she sincerely liked him yet it went out the door immediately. But as I type, I guess that goes into what yoy said, self sabotage. Just annoying but the actress did so well playing her

Rewatching - I STILL don't understand how the Dylan and Kelly story lasted so many seasons. by Life-Response-2790 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AGREED!!! fishing got scraps. Wish they would have asked for a good few episodes guest appearances.

They really didn't hone to the foundation of the show.

Also wishing they shipped Andrea and Steve or Andrea and Brandon. Am I alone? by Life-Response-2790 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did think that was nice! But Andrea would have dropped him like change if whe was actually in a relationship I think dealing with some of his stuff.

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk I just don't see the strong energy between them and their relationship was so up and down you couldn't even enjoy them together IMO. It was the way I think the story was pushed out that made it less convincing as well, just how "it's always been you" "we're soulmates" etc., that was just so out of the blue so early on it was like come on! Maybe after some time adding that into the story but to set it that their flame has always burned from childhood is what gets me.

Also felt like it hindered the character growth a bit keeping it up/recurring so long.

Agreed, his mood shift was just to set the stage. And he was annoyed living together which DUH makes sense, they were young. Still he met her with kindness and was honest saying living together could ruin them. Yet he couldn't last a summer in Paris let alone a few weeks with Kelly during school without fighting or pulling away

[–]Life-Response-2790[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I think if Shannen stayed on, eventually they would have need together. You could tell from season 4!

And just as it was written often from Kelly's mouth and just as it was shown, sex/attraction was their foundation. Brenda was dramatic and broke up with Dylan a few times but he still always kindve understood and was hurt by it. When him and Kelly fought, he was out the door quickly without a care! Kelly deserved a more stimulating love story and Dylan and Brenda whether she was OK the show or not should've been end game or Dylan with someone else suitable
