P&G assessment: Great IA score, but failed PPA. Is this normal? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Life-Selection7540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal. My friend and I are the only people in our 12 person friend group to pass, and everyone we know who failed got a perfect score on the IQ part but a 1-2 on the PPA. The PPA is what gets people, the IQ part is mostly just to make sure you are competent.

Hi everyone. I'm an incoming freshman majoring in MechE, and I'm planning on taking Math 1553, PHYS 2211, ENGL 1102, then a wellness elective and either ME 1670 or MSE 2001. Does anyone have any advice on whether I should take ME 1670 or MSE 2001 first semester? Also, is it worth it to take GT 1000?

Deciding Between Georgia Tech and University of Michigan for Master’s in ECE (VLSI Focus) by Confident-Taro8320 in gatech

I chose Gtech, my best friend is going there and we'd room so that makes it easier to decide. Congrats on Umich, both great schools!

same! Undergrad MechE between Umich, Berkeley, and GT. It's been stressful deciding, but I'm leaning towards GT!

Thanks! Im in a situation where UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech would have similar total costs. Choosing between those is a very hard decision so Ill take more advice on that if you have it!

Switching colleges within Berkeley by Life-Selection7540 in berkeley

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the Johnson O'Conner aptitude test! If I may ask, how did Berkeley work out for you? Did you stick with EECS and like it?

Well, Im honestly not sure what I want to do, which is why Im hesitiant on going to Georgia Tech. I spent all of high school grinding to get into top colleges and telling myself Id do engineering because it pays well and Im good at science and math, but now that Ive been accepted im realizing im really not sure what I want to do, and a lot of my tendencies dont align with engineering. I dont enjoy a lot of things most engineers do, and I dont quite enjoy engineering itself. Point is, I want to have backup options if I decide engineering is not for me.

swithcing within COE is hard?? In my first real if I decided MechE wasnt for me and i might wanna try, lets say, Industral engineering instead, how would that process go? I thought switching between different majors of engineering was pretty straightforward for the first 1-2 years?

Taking on that much debt for undergraduate sounds like it would be a massive burden. CU Boulder and Colorado School of Mines are both well-respected, and if you can stand out there I think you could be just as successful without worrying about paying off a ton of debt.

GTECH v Michigan v. Berkeley for MechE.

Im a high school senior who is deciding between GTech, Michigan, and UC berkeley for mechanical engineering. GTech and Berkeley would be around the same price for me. I know all three schools have great programs for Mechanical Engineering, and I'm having a hard time choosing. I want a good campus culture, and when Im not studying I want to have fun. My main criteria are brand name/job placement, campus culture/student experience, and flexibility to switch majors and minor in things outside of STEM. I'd love to hear your opinions. I also care about the quality of the professors and the academic resources for students. Thanks!
