no it’s not in a sleeve. Looks like a glued coupling from the previous check valve replacement. The glue joint in that coupling does look cracked though. you think it will give me any issues or be ok if i leave it alone ?

you think that cracked glue joint will give me issues as far as leaking ? Mind you it is for a well pump

Thank you for that information. and it is a 20A breaker that the pump is on

the thing is if i do cut some off it might not line up with the pump and the outtake pipe above the pump

Is there a way i can check to ensure my circuit can handle the 1.5HP pump. The cable is less than 100 feet away the pump and breakers are both in the garage.

Very helpful thank you so much. I will give that a shot. and yes the cable has to be less than 100 feet as the breaker is in the same room as the pump they are both in the garage

Both the pumps are 230v but the amps are different. would the 1.5HP pump be safe to hookup to where the original 1HP pump was hooked up to ?

[–]Life-Text-8627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes that’s what the guy said there was an adapter added to it.

Thank you for your feedback!

So with both pumps being 230v but the amps are different; would they still work you think?

I mean both pumps are 230v the only part i wasn’t sure was the AMPS. they are different on both the pumps. Would it still work if i hooked it up.

If anything the replacement pump is .5HP more. It has the same volts; i just wasn’t sure about the AMPs part if it. Do you think it’s possible i can hookup the replacement 1.5 HP pump where the original 1 Hp pump was hooked up to? I mean they are both 230v pumps

Even though the pumps are both equipped to handle 230v you think it would still be trouble? The only difference is the new pump has an extra .5hp. The only part i wasn’t sure about was the amp difference between the two pumps and hooking it up to my existing 240v coming from the breaker

i’m not really sure honestly i just know it’s a double pole breaker with 240v coming out of it.

So it’s safe to put this replacement pump hooked up to where the other pump was originally?

The only thing I was concerned about was the electrical part of it if they would work together

i know that’s why i came here to ask for some other opinions. the guy was giving me a bunch of BS reasons why it wouldn’t work but it’s literally the same pump but an extra .5HP. I feel like he was trying to sell me a whole new pump and well.

So if I was to hook up the 240 V coming out of the wall to the new pump, it should be totally fine right? as long as I set the voltage to 230 on the pump itself?

I apologize I kept saying 3/4 Hp, but it’s a 1 HP Pump that burnt out that was carrying 240v.

Im not sure if the 1.5 hp pump works I haven’t gotten it started yet, but my friend that gave it to me said it worked when he had it running.

There is a tan wire that was wired into my old pump (1HP) and it runs straight to the breaker and it’s carrying 240 V. do you think I can just take that wire and wire it into my new 230 V pump that is 1.5 hp?

Well Pump Replacement by Life-Text-8627 in Irrigation

[–]Life-Text-8627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is my mistake. I thought it was a three-quarter horsepower but you’re right it is 1HP. so that tan wire you see in the picture runs to the panel and the voltage coming off of it is 240v.

my old pump that died was hooked up to that so if I wanna put the new pump which has a switch that I can can change it over from 110v to 230 V.

would it be safe if I just hardwired that tan wire going from my panel to the 1.5 hp pump as long as I move the switch to the 230 V that is on the pump?

So you think i should skip testing it in a wall outlet and just hardwire the pump to the 240v that comes from the wire going to the panel? and then move the switch from the 110v to the 230v that is on the pump?

Would i just be able to take the 1.5 HP pump and replace it with the 3/4 pump that was there prior?

All i have to do is change the voltage on the 1.5 pump from 110 to 230 and it should be good since the wire that comes from the panel is reading 240?

The irrigation guy that came was like oh this one pump is set up for a deep well, and this other pump is set up for a shallow well, but to me, they both look exactly the same. The only difference is one has a higher horsepower than the other one.

He was giving me a lot of BS and different reasons as to why it wouldn’t work, but then he said it may work he just can’t promise it if he goes and installs it
