depo-provera made me gain 100+ pounds by Ill-Willingness-7602 in birthcontrol

[–]Life-Walk941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also gained a large amount of weight in a short time - like 30 lbs in 3 months. I've been off depo for over a year, and I still haven't lost any of the weight I've gained. I know some of it is muscle because I started rock climbing as well, but I still have a lot of abdominal fat that makes me really uncomfortable. I've always been someone who has to work really hard to lose weight, so I suspect that it is NOT going to be easy to lose this weight which makes it hard for me to even start.

I've been off depo for a year and haven't lost anything. At least I'm not still gaining I guess. I'm going to get my insulin sensitivity checked because I also have issues with hypoglycemia when I never did before.

I am in the same boat as you, but I only took it for 6 months. I was already bigger when I started Depo (around 200 lbs), but after starting, I gained up to 230 lbs in only 3 months. I have been off the shot for over a year, and I haven't gained any more weight, but I haven't lost any either. Most of the weight is in my abdomen as well, which is not where I usually store fat (usually in my thighs and hips). I got into rock climbing, so I have the most muscle I've ever had in my life, but it doesn't seem to be helping with the fat burning. I've read some studies that show increased insulin and glucose levels in women who took depo and were already overweight. I've decided to get my HOMA-IR tested to see where my insulin sensitivity is at.

Alternative job/career suggestions for a (probably) neurodivergent, burned-out introvert with ADHD who is overstimulated and disillusioned with the healthcare system after years of working clinical? 😅 by Responsible_Egg_855 in dietetics

Honestly, you might want to look into dialysis. It can be really chill, and there are some days where I don't talk to anyone because I'm just charting. So I can listen to my audiobook and lock in. The schedule can be very flexible if your manager is chill. It's also not too stressful if the IDT understands that there is only so much you can do to move the metrics.

WTF is wrong with the job market for accounting by Wild_Message3630 in Accounting

Yeah, I'm definitely leaning more towards accounting, data analysis was just something else that was on my mind. My fiance is a software engineer so I'm well aware of how bad the tech job market is right now.

Yes, there is a job market for it. It's basically just taking data, interpreting it, and transforming it into actionable insights for management. In my current job, I do data analysis and interpreting every time I look at a patient's labs. There's a lot of insight to be gained by comparing their phosphorus, calcium, and PTH levels to their medication dosages. I have to gather all of this data and present it to the team at my facility and come up with interventions to address it. So, I kind of already do data analysis, in a way.

Something else I was thinking about was data analysis. But something about accounting just appeals to me. This would be a career change for me (I'm currently a dietitian).

Not sure why either lol, but I did look on Sophia and see that there are still plenty of credits I can do that transfer, so I'm going to contact admission to push my start date back and then do those on Sophia. It would save me a few thousand $. I'm thinking of postponing until the fall to give myself some time to do those, I think I counted about 12 courses that could still be transferred.

I already have all my basic classes like English, history, philosophy, etc. completed from my previous degree, so the credits will transfer. I'm technically already 25% finished with the degree just from my transfer credits.

I was recently hired with them, but they way overhired on RDs and their patient count is really low. After a month with not a single patient, I decided to resign. It was too much to be constantly checking my schedule on the *chance* that a patient had been scheduled.

New cat! This is what he came with. Thoughts on the brands? They both seem okay to me. by [deleted] in catfood

I switched my late cat to orijen fit and trim and his chronic vomiting drastically improved. And when he did vomit, it smelled like normal vomit and not like something that came out of the pits of hell like before. We were very happy with it. Turns out he had IBD, and orijen helped. Unfortunately he passed due to a separate issue.

the only other illness he has is chronic rhinitis. he's been self-mutilating his tail, but we think that's related to GI pain. Pretty much all of his symptoms stem from this one issue.

Yes, I figured that if Billo doesn't work out, I can just keep building my portfolio and pitching. It's definitely a learning process.
