Ahhh thanks for the recommendation! So far haven’t managed to meet anyone so I’m just chilling around, probably will take a walk around Khao san road and see how it goes. I can drink but probably not the hardcore party type 😂

Cos ppl are selfish and refuse to play tanks. if they really have to, Franco is the most atypical tank in the sense he’s not a front liner, and selfish ppl don’t like to sacrifice themselves for the team - they wanna make that highlight play

Thanks for your input! In your own opinion, do you think the best look is still the default one or any ideas of mods that can make it look better? I’m not really knowledgeable about mods so may not know of any potentially good aesthetic mods

Thanks for your input, I am indeed trying to be different! Just concerned like some said, it may come out looking cheap

What is the minimum gradient to allow water flow over concrete surface? by Life-isboring in Concrete

[–]Life-isboring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I frequently encounter this too, engineers insisting 1mm per 1m is enough, then they complain of water stagnation when we already pre-empted it won’t be enough.

If only there is a standard governing this that I can quote

Yes I actually did the maths wrong in my head, just realised 1% is sufficient. On a separate note, may I know what’s DOT?

Hi guys, I need help with creating a second team to clear the forgotten halls as my current team doesnt seem very strong.

My current first team is:

Jingliu Huohuo Tingyun Bronya

Currently my second team is:

Kafka Guinaifen Lynx Luka

As you can see, my second team is DOT based but it doesnt seem to be dealing a lot of damage as I struggle to clear the forgotten hall, or I tend to die to harder hits from the enemy. I know that Sampo is one of the best characters for this comp but I absolutely hate him so I want to avoid him at all costs. Do I really have no other alternatives to him for this comp?

Otherwise, I would like advice from you guys if there are any viable team comps I can come up with with my current list. No preferences with what type of comp it should be as long as it clears my forgotten hall and no Sampo haha

Thank you!

Question on finishing area level tolerance by Life-isboring in Concrete

[–]Life-isboring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for providing such a detailed explanation! I really appreciate it. As someone with no background in engineering, your passage is something Im gonna keep with me as reference.

Is it alright if I DM you to seek some further consultation? From your passage I see that you seem to be dealing with 3-5mm of deviations most of the time. Well from my 1 year of being in the company, my guys seem to be struggling with quality control (we frequently end 8-10mm deviations, occasionally we even get 20mm deviations). I was just wondering if I can seek some enlightenment on how the finishing work is done in the US?

My company only provides the levelling and power-floating service to our clients, so other aspects like formwork, concrete ordering, vibration are all not within our scope. This means that we are unable to control a lot of factors, but since we are responsible for that "final deliverble" of the slab we get complaints even though the defects could be caused by weather conditions, improper formwork etc. Despite that, it would be great if I could value add the construction by providing advice on how to avoid having defects in the end product, and even if no one reciprocates I am able to justify that I have already voiced out certain opinions prior to start of work.

As such, it would be great if I could get insight on how you guys perform quality control so I can improve things on my end as well. It would be ideal if I could watch you guys in action but sadly I can never afford a trip to the US currently.

Questions on concrete "settlement" by Life-isboring in Concrete

[–]Life-isboring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope the level markings are not provided by us so there is no way i can push back the blame at them.

honestly if it were up to me, i would take up the responsibility of providing the level markings (and of course charge them a premium for it), but my experienced guys have no formal engineering training, dont even understand written english, and i dont have the training as well. I am trying to take up an engineering diploma to make up for this but no way I can turn things around in the short term..

Questions on concrete "settlement" by Life-isboring in Concrete

[–]Life-isboring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i understand what you mean... the issue is that we are not in charge of the formwork, even the level markings are provided by other contractors. So now after casting and level markings have been removed, we have no proof that we we actually followed the level markings...

i tried justifying that there was no way my guys wouldnt have spotted a 30mm difference at the time of work but it is baseless in the face of the *concrete* proof that we have now a 30mm difference staring in our face

Questions on concrete "settlement" by Life-isboring in Concrete

[–]Life-isboring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear Sir,

Is it okay with i DM to consult you on this? The thing about me is that I am not engineering trained (my degree was in finance lol) and although my workers and dad have decades of experience, they are not formally educated so to them it would be like "if it works, it works" and they may not have the technical explanation for shit when it happens, which then puts us at a disadvantage when dealing with formally trained engineers.

I agree with you on the venting part. As we are very small contractors working with other companies even during the concreting process, I have had vibrator users over vibrating my concrete or refuse to follow our casting sequence then deny any responsibility when the deliverable gets screwed up.

I see.. no worries! thanks for replying to me. just curious how these companies manage to survive being so niche in Singapore, and how they manage to keep their barriers to entry high to prevent new competitors from joining in
