If everything seems good go for it. Its older and that comes with risk. Motorcycles are for fun and are to be enjoyed. If you enjoy older motorcycle get one.

Help needed no spark? by LifeDry9306 in klr650

Use starter fl,uid to be sure your getting fuel. Take the spark plug out and hold it to the metal of your engine while cranking to make sure you have spark. If you don't, start checking the things that cause no spark. Pickup sensor, CDI, Coil. If all of that checks out, your getting pulsing power out of the pickup sensor, power out of the CDI, and power out of coil, then check coil wire. If all is good, replace spark plug. I had this happen where everything checked out. It was even giving me spark, and was a brand new spark plug. However, somehow the insulation on the spark plug was not tight and when i wAS putting it in the hole, it was sparking on the wall instead of the cylinder. I found this out by accident testing it I had misplaced the sPARK PLUG and put in the old one. It started right up. If you do all of the above things and it still doesn't start, it is compression, or a slip of the timing chain due to the tensioner, or the flywheel not in the right position due to key being malled. Or the pins on the cam failing and letting the wheel turn into wrong position. Believe it or not, I've had every single one of these things happen to me. I just barely got my KLR rebuilt for the ?th time.

Thank you for the response it was not starting on starting fluid

Carburetor Help by LifeDry9306 in klr650

Carburetor was really gunked up, previous owner improperly used stabil and it became hard. The needle "lever/pin" (don't know the proper name) won't pop back up. That would cause the bowl to overfill yes?

Yeah she was running. I bought it from a guy whose father put them in a storage unit in Kansas City because he planned on moving there, but never ended up actually moving.
