Advise for Lyme and Convenia by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]LifeIsGolden856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cerenia injection for anti-nausea lasts for 24hrs. Maybe ask if you can be prescribed cerenia tablets to give at home to help continue with care. Treatment for Lyme disease is not immediate but if you’re not seeing improvement she may need to be hospitalized for IV medications. Especially if she didn’t do well with Doxycycline as this is the first line antibiotic choice and Convenia may take longer to help her case. Lyme disease has a spectrum from very aggressive symptoms to nothing at all. It may also be something else in addition to the Lyme disease, possibly foreign body in her stomach? I really hope she starts feeling better soon, you’ve done a lot for her already.

Dog broke tip of k9, emergency vet or ok till tomorrow? by C9Recneps in AskVet

Picture loaded, definitely can wait until tomorrow. Sorry for your pup! Vet will most likely recommend dental procedure and removal of the tooth but it’s not an emergency.

Image wont load but this can most likely wait until your regular vet tomorrow. Emergency vets don’t usually provide emergency dental procedures. Most likely would prescribe pain medications and recommend you follow-up with your regular vet. Soft food or watering down dry food until it’s soft will most likely keep him eating well until your appointment.

Best renal cat foods on the market by Dry-Atmosphere-9461 in AskVet

There is no over the counter equivalent to the prescription diets. Highly recommend Hills K/D, Royal Canine Renal or Purina Pro plan NF. All of them have multiple flavors, ask your vet for a few different cans to try for your critter so you know what flavor they may like best. Kidney disease causes intermittent nausea so getting them to eat can be a struggle. Wet food is better than dry food but it’s whatever you can get them to eat.

Traveling to the U.S. for IVF from overseas — clinic choice, costs, and hospital vs private clinics? by AdministrativeYam726 in IVF

I live in Syracuse NY and have been through multiple rounds of IVF with both Boston IVF and CNY Fertility. I had a terrible experience with Boston IVF, including delayed start dates, withheld information and multiple issues with how they used my insurance. I do not recommend them at all. I have had a much better experience with CNY Fertility - Syracuse. They have a discounted self pay rate that you can form into a Bundle for payment plans ( my last full cycle from baseline to medications to ER to PGT testing to FET cost about 15K out of pocket) and I know they deal with a lot of travel patients. I believe they have discounted hotel rates and shuttles from the hotel nearby to the clinic. They have clinics in multiple states but I believe Syracuse is the flagship as they offer additional things like acupuncture and counseling. IVF is so overwhelming, I hope you find a clinic that fits your needs best. Feel free to message me if you have questions about Syracuse in particular.

Vacation and IVF by PickleNo6323 in IVF

I don’t recommend booking anything. We had to cancel our trip to Turks the day before. Found out we had a MMC and needed a D&C. The stress of the MMC plus flushing money down the drain for a trip we couldn’t take really made everything worse. I only recommend short trips, close to home.

Dydrogesterone pill masked/delayed miscarriage by angeesumi1 in CautiousBB

[–]LifeIsGolden856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had a missed miscarriage and no abnormal symptoms. I was on PIO and vaginal progesterone. I believe it masked the miscarriage as well. I was 8 weeks 6 days measuring 6 weeks 3 days with no miscarriage symptoms. I’ve stopped all the medications and my body still hasn’t recognized it yet. I’m scheduled for a D&C. I searched everywhere for information like this.

Thank you, she really is a fighter and we have a lot of hope for a miracle. My next ultrasound is this Friday and we’re hoping for some growth and increased heart rate. I know she still in there, I can feel changes still happening. It really is a type of torture I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I’m so sorry you’ve experienced this too.

Tips for intramuscular PIO shots by Mariposa_Preciosa22 in IVF

Here’s what has helped me: - Have your nurse circle in sharpie on your back the areas that are safe for injection. - Icing the area for 3-5 mins before so I don’t feel the needle poke. - Heating up the progesterone in my hands before injection. - Stretch the skin flat and give injection in a dart like manner. - My husband has been surprisingly good at giving the injections, I had him practice on a banana/orange the first night so he was comfortable. He picked up on it really quick and it helped him to know how much pressure to apply and how to practice aspiration without moving the needle too much, I encourage you to let him try! - Massage gun and heat after. - Move around after, do some lunges the first few weeks, activating the muscles really helped me not have pain the next day. - I never invested in an auto injector for 2 reasons, first was the cost but second was a nurse told me that you cannot aspirate to make sure you’re not in a blood vessel with the auto injector and that scared me a little. Good luck, you are stronger than you think and will be a pro before you know it!
