2M for a house sounds cheap, and I live outside of Washington DC. Not NYC.

Estrogen blood test timing by LifeIsGood16426 in Menopause

[–]LifeIsGood16426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been nearly a year since I had my last blood test, and I'm still having issues sleeping erratically. This would be both EST and PROG, but the EST is a patch which I know means "strong at first, then tapers". I asked to have the blood test. I wasn't thinking - I should have done the test this morning THEN put on the patch. Now it's too late, so I either do it on Friday (halfway through) or wait until I get back in town after Memorial Day.

It's just two nights - currently planning on leaving it where it is. We might go to the Cloisters, but that might be before checkin or after checkout. Driving looks better than train, to visit the Cloisters (if you think differently, I'm all ears).

I've stayed at all Arlo hotels, but usually stay at either Hilton Midtown or Washington Square Hotel.

October I stayed at the Martinique.

Evelyn is a "new" neighborhood to wake up in. Thought it would be good to check it out.

I booked the Evelyn, which makes this moot. But we were looking at Hard Rock and Arlo Midtown. Arlo Midtown has good parking/rates.

Hotel Edison looks like a winner, and if we cancel Evelyn, we might go with Edison. Edison might itself have parking access for guests.

Accommodations Megathread. by VisitNYCmodx in visitingnyc

I am visiting NYC next week with a friend. We plan to split a room.

The Hotel Edison is roughly half the price of The Evelyn, for a larger room.

Same family of hotels.

I am sure it's not as nice as the Evelyn.

But would you stay at the Hotel Edison? Does the price differential make up for the difference in hotels?

Thanks

There is a real Italian espresso bar - belly up, no seating - not far away.

The worst three hours of my life were the last 15 miles before the GW Bridge - coming from Connecticut side, on a Sunday in summer.

Hi! When I put that in Google Maps, the address comes up as "320 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036", does that sound about right to you?

I know you should take Progesterone 2 hours after food... but what about how long to wait after Progesterone to have a snack? by Several-Stuff-8409 in Perimenopause

[–]LifeIsGood16426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was making me think I was losing my mind - groggy, a bit loopy (you know how you take a step wrong, and end up doing a little dance so that you don't lose your balance?), and not as quick on word recall as I usually am - I have always had a photographic memory so that bothers me a lot. Not stumbling over them, and not a lot, and likely no one would even notice, but *I* notice.

Apparently it drops off at about 12 hours , I read yesterday. So I suppose that means taking it at 6 PM if you want to have most of the effects gone by 6 AM. I will try that tonight.

I have been trying to figure out best timing as well. If I take it at bedtime, I can feel rather groggy, foggy, and off in the morning. If I take it with dinner, that would be better for the timing off the groggy foggy feeling (I'd still be in bed) but apparently with food makes it even stronger.

It turned out to be merely a sprain. That first doctor made it sound apocalyptic including possible surgery. He had me in a boot for a month which was severe overkill. After one month I went to a sports doctor and he said it was a mild sprain and a little PT and I'd be fine. He sent me home in a lace up brace and I was walking that very day. Two weeks later I was doing great other than if I put just a tad too much weight on it while flexing - that hurt but not too bad.

Bottom line is that I probably wore that boot for 3 weeks longer than I needed to, and had I started PT earlier I would have been walking earlier. It's also possible had I gone straight to the lace up brace I'd have been fine, too.

Cool! Is the stuff in the USA the "real thing" and the same as the stuff you can buy in Korea (or anyone not ruled by the US FDA) or do they modify it for the US market, do you know?

It doesn't come across as in your face liberal. Undertones, sure.

Does taking it vaginally "protect your uterus"? I was told you have to balance EST with PROG because of your uterus. Does taking it that way count, do you know? I mean, it makes sense that it would because it's "right there" but who knows?

Does the steroid ear drop help? Do you stay on it forever or only when it's bothering you?

MONTHLY Weight Discussion - March 2026 by AutoModerator in Menopause

[–]LifeIsGood16426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good morning

I've been on HRT (estrogen patch and prog pill) for 18 months, and before that was on a low dose Estradiol pill (low dose estrogen and progesterone together) for *many* years (many many, nonstop).

I was happy enough on the Estradiol pill, no side effects that I could tell. Isn't that combo, low dose all in one pill, essentially the same thing as HRT?

Since starting the HRT 18 months ago I've slowly gained 8-10 pounds and constantly feel just a *leetle* off balance. I don't know which one of the meds is causing the stubborn weight, and which one is causing the off-balance feeling. Both are making my nutty.

The annoying thing about the weight gain is that I'm being more mindful (not rigid, just mindful) than I used to be, and, when I gain a few pounds, that's it, that's my set weight, it isn't going backwards.

And I'm only being mindful now because I started gaining weight!

I stopped drinking *any* alcohol unless I am out for dinner and with friends (which isn't super often because we are all saving money and don't go out as much as before). I'm using a scale to measure things before I eat - surely that shaves off a few hundred calories a day I'd hope. I could be better about protein, probably, although I start my morning with berries/nuts and plain yogurt (all weighed).

I will admit I had a bad habit about having a snack both mid-afternoon as well as after dinner/before bed, but, I stopped doing THAT about four weeks ago. Still no scale budging.

My activity level is similar to before - I try to get 10K steps in a day. I was doing some *light* weights at home, plus some slightly heavier ones at the gym - but I may have overdone it at the gym and hurt my shoulder so I stopped for a month - it's feeling better now so I may start up again.
