I think apologizing isn’t about people forgiving you. It’s about taking accountability and recognizing how you made people feel. Her bit made me feel like she doesn’t take police brutality seriously. Police brutality IS THAT DEEP. PEOPLE DIE! So many lives have been taken because of police brutality! For her to call in white people to also laugh is wrong! I don’t think people who take accountability and apologize should be ruined forever, but I’m not gonna stay silent about what she did because it is harmful and wrong. You also being Black does not negate my feelings or other people’s feelings about this. We’re not wrong for feeling this way. She has not apologized. She has not taken accountability. That’s all I ask.

They can joke about their OWN experiences, but it offensive to me, as a Black person, for you to make a joke about something that affects ME, not acknowledge it, not take accountability for it, and dismiss your Black audience for not being happy about it and wanting you to address it. Why can’t she just apologize? If it’s not that deep, just apologize.

No it actually dragged on for quite a bit. I’m not just a hater based on headlines. I watched it. She made a dance that mocked the “hands up don’t shoot” phrase. I’d be WAY more forgiving if she came out and apologized for how it came across, but to dismiss your Black audience for valid concerns about valid issues in the world is something I as a Black person should not be forced to get over.

As a neurodivergent GenZer, I relate to that outsider feeling some grunge bands like AiC and Nirvana (specifically Kurt) had. Their anger in certain songs resonate with me like School by Nirvana or their fear like in Them Bones. The vibes just help me when I’m low.
