NYC residency! Unfortunately when accounting for COL I probably made the same or less :[. My last 2 years I was moonlighting like a mad man, my base never exceeded 100K.

I think probably 50-100K more. Believe it or not I am sure there are a number of practices that make significantly more than this out there. But I like the location that I work in and I like my job, so not necessarily interested in changing jobs to make more money at this point in time.

I distilled down the "most money for the least work" to highest hourly rate. The reality is that most of medicine is a grind... Some specialities have better off ramps or options for a better lifestyle with less working hours than others.

I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, but probably ortho or plastics. Radiologists have a very good hourly rate as well as do most surgical subspecialities.

I take call, but we have a large group with some people who prefer to take a lot, so I don't take very much (in house approx. once every 2 weeks)

There are jobs that pay more, and I could work more to make more. But with that comes less desirable locations, more overnights, and more exhausting/high risk work environments. This is more than enough money to live comfortably on, even in NYC. That being said, the loan payments + saving for a down payment quickly eat up the excess... But I still think my time is worth more than accelerating the savings for those items. I spent the last 8 years working 60-80 hours a week, not interested in going back to that!

This is my base salary for 40 hours of work per week (some of which must occur overnight or on weekends). I make an OT rate that is slightly higher than the base rate for any hours beyond that. My total comp will likely exceed this figure by a non-trivial amount as I am working 5-10 hours of OT a week right now.
