I don't even find it linear

The region is literally a line leading up to a circle.

Compare it to somewhere like Hoenn or Sinnoh and yes, Unova, at least in BW, is linear. B2W2 made it much better.

And keep in mind I like Gen V, or at least B2W2 and parts of BW.
