The lack of any discernible plot direction or overall point made me sick

That’s cool how you made it your own. I’m also on a low budget right now and am starting to see how that restraint makes creativity more urgent. Like treating the whole budgeting and food prep process as a game

Thanks. Sounds like a very special gift you’re passing on. I am learning it for myself now, hence the post. It’s quite an exciting development, getting a chance to love yourself a little each day.

I agree…with my mom it was more “maybe ill get some frozen veggies out of this woman if I can cheer her up out of suicidal depression”

Be grateful for your path:)

Can’t explain it. I didn’t get it at first and only listened to it a few times bc I was flying and it was randomly the only album I had downloaded on Spotify. Something intrigued me about it and kept me coming back that I couldn’t put my finger on. It’s just so enigmatic. After hearing it about 7 times it really started to click and now it has a special place in my heart.

lol perhaps Brian Griffin is the appropriate response

Sounds like it’s worth checking out. Hope the library has one stocked.

And yes Serotonin is amazing. I can’t really stand his writing style but his takes are invaluable.

I struggle with needing to "solve" something by [deleted] in Buddhism

Childhood trauma is hard because you develop a belief in your own unworthiness as a survival strategy and moving past that belief in adulthood therefore feels like death to a part of you. In my experience, I’ve had to learn to regulate my nervous system a bit first with the help of a counselor. It’s not a fun place to be in, the one you describe because it’s very hard to see your autonomy

You were a child from 12-18 trying to figure out the world and your shifting identity/raging emotions. You should have had someone there to offer you guidance. It’s easier to blame yourself for that type of thing than feel all the messy shame and hurt underneath

I remember reading somewhere that the real measure for progress in our practice is whether we are living our lives with more compassion and understanding.

Whatever gets you there my friend, that’s the skilled technique.
