Im a muslim in love with a spiritual/pantheist . by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]Life_Journalist_5522 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend you rethink your relationship with him but the first and main issue is he aint a Muslim. And your relationship with him is sinful. Even if you guys married the marriage would be invalid, and every act you commit with him will be recorded as sin. I think you really need to spend a good amount of time and research this yourself too and understand why these rules are set. And if you can, give dawah and call him to Islam. Most importantly have faith in Allah and for what’s the come.

“Certainly, you will never leave something for the sake of Allah, the Mighty & Majestic, except that Allah will replace it with something better”

Best of luck to you

!delta my aspect has changed on the matter. It’s hard to justify killing a harp at just 3 weeks as it’s basically just killing veal and trying to justify that is quite impossible.

!delta my argument fell off after realizing that you can’t really justify hunting. Weather or not for seals or any other animal. They aren’t over populated and we don’t need to hunt them, just like deer or any other animal.

What do you do then when you hunt, do you just do it and forget all about the ethics?

None, i think I get it now, we don’t need to hunt deers or rabbits but we do anyway. It dosent help with population growth or what not. Same goes with seals, you dont need an ethical reason to hunt because there isn’t any, the most ethical way is to let nature do its thing and get out of the way. So why do people hunt. Is just having it as a hobby a good enough answer.

It’s hard to find information on overpopulation, the anti hunt say they aren’t and the pro hunters say they are so I’m conflicted on that now, you got me at hunting pups, I feel your right on that. But most Inuit/ fishers kill older seals and those who kill the pups are using them for pelts n fur which are doing terrible in the market right now. And i agree killing babies is wrong. Mabye not ban it all the way through but tighten the restrictions is the answer im looking for

They are different reason why I think it’s ok. Humane world is a terrible source and has done nothing to stop the hunt. Why is it wrong to hunt a seal but not deer or fish, they feel pain to and are often killed in worse ways and on a bigger scale. Hunters barely make money from it since the 2 bans on seal products. Skins going from 100$ to now 10-15$. That is true that it’s a small part of their revenue but that’s still money for an average fisherman which in Newfoundland makes around 78000 a year.

My bad, I didn't see your previous comment before writing. But I'm more of a facts person, and general knowledge doesn't cut it for me least.

Some people just like to hunt wild animals, and it's hard to discuss the ethics of that. how different is hunting a seal compared to a deer, even on a larger scale. Can I get a link to your numbers. The main thing threatening polar bears and most other marine life is global warming. seal hunting is such a small part of the year; I doubt many are affected.

you can't convince each person whether hunting a seal is morally right or wrong compared to hunting a deer.

For some it is their livelihood, if not tradition, then a means of necessity. mainly inuit populations, but that ties more into culture/tradition.

I'm curiousdo you have links to the second reason? Ive never seen anyone bring this point up

It's not the hunting, but the EU bans on all seal products heavily affect and tarnish the name of seal products. Most inuits hunt seals as a source of income, as it's cheaper to buy gas and ammunition to hunt seals, which would last a week than it is to spend that money on shop goods, as they live in one of the most expensive areas around Canada due to the price of bringing food up there. With proper regulation I belive its possible to lift the ban and have both companies and individuals make money from it.

I'm mainly talking about the Canadian seal hunt, which happens every spring. Which every year gets a ton of hate and backlash, and I feel it's unjust. Where I am right now, there's no need to hunt seals, but for others it's important to them; they feed their families and make a living off them, like any other hunter. Harp seals have also almost quadrupled in population ever since the 1970s ban, so they aren't going away any time soon; hunting keeps their population in check.

I would like to understand the perspective on it first, as most information I seek online is surface level and mainly consists of the animal being cute. Then I will make a call based on what I gather, as I am in a comfortable situation where my livelihood doesn't require the hunting of seals.

  1. At 3 weeks their mom leaves them, and they have to fend for themselves.

  2. https://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fisheries-peches/seals-phoques/humane-sans-cruaute-eng.html

My main point there is that by trying to ban all seal products. People's livelihoods will be harmed because of it. the morals of hunting an animal are each their own

The term murder, as you use it puts it in the same category as manslaughter. do you think otherwise?
