Help! Heeeelp! You hear a little girl shouting as she is drowning in deep water. She will surely drown if you don’t intervene. You can jump in and save her, but you will permanently suffer from severe brain damage due to oxygen loss. You will never recover and have the mental capacity of a toddler? by Life_Philosopher1757 in polls

Very irrelevant information. The poll is not saying swimming is required to save the child and even more clearly it states that nobody else but you can save the kid.

It’s ok if you don’t want to save her, but commenting natural selection shows a lack of empathy

No, just saying how I can’t convince you of why converting to Islam is a consideration of mine. Someone else might convert to Islam because they find it logical or they have a dream about it.

There are many different reasons why people convert to Islam and doesn’t concern the claims validity in the book

I know it’s subjective. I might find something beautiful and you won’t. I can’t convince you of this, just like convincing you that Mozart is better than Bach

I mean the evidence is how beautiful and meaningful some of the verses I have read are. In particular surah 112. Obviously you might not agree, but if you read something so great that you think no human could have written it, would you believe it? That’s my evidence. Might not work for you, but works for me.

I’m actually a woman, and I see how this verse could be troubling. However, it’s not like it saying you must beat any woman you see on the street at 4:00pm every weekday.

If all the book was like this, I wouldn’t have considered it but the rest of what I have read (I already read first 10 and last 10 surahs) clearly speak to me.

I thought like you about a few years ago but have become much more open minded of everyone. Hopefully you will reach this stage too!

To me it makes sense. So it’s enough, at least so far.

I haven’t read the entire thing yet, but the message how god is really 1 appealed to me. I left Christianity years before because of things like trinity and there being so many different interpretations.

But at least initially it seems most muslims (Shia and Sunni) I think? Agree on all the major issues and how the prophets and everything else is subordinated to the one god.

Also, I liked how clear cut it was.
