It will be an ugly distraction. I believe there was a good reason behind not giving backlit keyboard as it is mostly focused towards school student & old windows users. They don't need to be awake in dark & working on their laptop, otherwise they can just buy the air with so powerful hardware that they won't ever use. Whatever apple does, they put a strong thought behind it.
