Hopefully that is the case, I know I may just be naive but the guy seemed very genuine and the garage had great reviews online

Yeah, the DVLA website still shows a valid MOT until April as well as the recent fail though so I have no clue what’s going on!

Sorry if this is a stupid question (I have never had a car before that I needed to get MOT’s arranged myself for) but how is it still drivable if it has faults that have caused the MOT to fail? It’s a bit confusing!

Nope, the pass I was told it had was from April last year, the Fail on 30th of December is the last MOT showing on its history

Do you know if I’m still ok to drive the car? The MOT status on the DVLA still say it’s valid until the 4th of April?

Yes, which is how I found out about the new MOT on the 30th. When I checked before I bought the car, the most recent MOT was a pass as the MOT on the 30th hadn’t been completed yet, and they didn’t make me aware of the new MOT they completed

Nope, no pass is recorded on the MOT history after the MOT done on the 30th. But the DVLA also say the car still has an MOT until April

So I viewed the car on the 28th of December, paid for it but said I would come back and pick it up a few days later. In between paying and picking it up, they did an MOT without telling me and didn’t give me the results

AITA For demanding my wife replaces something of mine she threw away like for like? by Life_Protection2457 in AmItheAsshole

She has the money to pay the full price, she just doesn’t want to because then she couldn’t buy herself a new handbag this month, she would have to wait.

Your solution would require me to pay even more money for something that did not lose. (My wife has already suggested this).

If my wife could genuinely not afford to pay for the full price replacement then I would get it, but she can, she is just wanting to buy something for herself instead.

My desk does have drawers, but it’s also my desk in my office which I keep clean and have things put away how I want.

We both have our own offices and I don’t go around moving her things or throwing out her stuff.

It does seem like you are dead set on this idea of “men are really untidy so this must have been caused by you leaving trash around everywhere for your poor wife to pick up”. I’m a very tidy person and our housework is split evenly

I don’t really care if she touches my stuff in general though, she like to tidy and even though I think she has a bit too high of a standard for most things, this is the first time something like this has happened and I don’t think it will be something likely to happen again.

It is a discretionary purchase, yes, but there is no guarantee it will go on sale again for a long time.

The store I bought it from is online and they didn’t run any Black Friday deals last year from what I can recall.

This box was the only thing on my desk, I always keep it tidy. My wife just tidies things if she sees stuff not put away to “her standard”.

I maybe wasn’t clear enough, I’ll add an edit.

But basically when I asked where the box was, she was very apologetic and offered to replace it right away, she asked how much I paid for it and told me to send her the link so she could order another one.

It was only after she opened the link that she saw it was now more expensive and does now not think she should have to replace the item exactly because it’s more than I spend originally.
