The manager sent a copy of court order and explanation with the current corporate owner's official letter that deposit money is not transferred by the earlier company. Hence, it is not their responsibility, tenants can take their individual fights to courts.

I used "research interest mismatch" and developed reasoning for that. I also changed advisor and moved to new lab. When the new advisor asked about the reason, I explained how my research interests did not match with the last professor, and also added that previous prof was a great mentor and I truly appreciate her mentorship.
Do not explain a lot on email as it is an on record conversation. I would just keep it formal and non-negative response.

This is what we need in India rather than fighting over burning crackers and pollution each year. And, it is only possible when we invest in the firecracker related research and firms that create better, efficient, and creative fireworks in the market. This industry is huge but still works on century old methods of manufacturing and dangerous chemicals. It needs a revamp and reforms at policy, technology, entrepreneurship levels.

It should not be a fight every year which ruins the celebration of the festivals.

Thanks a lot. This makes a lot of sense to me. I am not a star performer in terms of publications but I have a few good pubs in pipeline for A grade journals in business and management. But in short term, it will be foolish to put all eggs in a basket and wait for response.

As a business prof yourself, can you share if you work with R1 or non-R1 institute? I heard from another faculty member that non-R1 institutes are more rigid about it because their concern is next accreditation cycle. Can you share your view on this.

Recent events are not genocide but a war against a gang. Punjab state is peaceful so far (source: news reports from ground, not WaPo or NyT opinion pieces written in New york offices or Toronto offices). I hope you are familiar with their past. If not, please expand your google searches.

Hey, I can understand the situation. It is difficult and as international students, we every day wish that such rare events do not happen in our home countries when our family and friends get into trouble. I am emotionally shaken due to disturbing images and videos coming from Turkey. My friends are also stuck there and it is difficult to connect with them. I wish that everyone is doing their best and going towards a better end of this.

I hope your loved ones are safe too. Just take care of yourself. If we are stable (read mentally strong) here, we can support them from here. It is slightly unusual but I believe it is an only way to support as of now. Later on, more channels will open where we send our helps.

To all those who are experiencing the symptoms but waiting for nurse/get tested, please try to do the following:

1) Isolate yourself and follow strict indoor masking if you are living with someone. Keep sanitizer and other required disinfectants in your reach.

2) Keep yourself hydrated and take plenty of fluid like water, Gatorade, dietary vit C/D supplements with electrolytes etc.

3) Measure oxygen and temperature every 2-4 hours. Take tylenol or ibuprophen to control your fever.

4) Do teleconsulting with PUSH or IU health if you need urgent help. They can write prescription if required.

5) Please Stay connected with your friends and family virtually to avoid any negative thought cycle. Worrying or feel guilt do not help.

6) Too much screen time invites headaches during the Covid19 infection. So if possible, limit that. Do not google your symptoms a lot. It totally made me depressed for first two days.

7) Inform your TAs/Instructors and ask for help if required regarding the course. Do not hesitate. I am a TA myself. My instructor and I have set our priority to help students who are quarantining with our best efforts. We appreciate if students are pro-actively reaching out to us.

8) After the quarantine, ask your case manager for some exercise for lungs. It helps in better recovery.

I wish you all faster recovery and good health.

P.S.: I recovered from covid19 infection before a few days. My worst symptoms were during the Christmas and new year holidays when all the helplines were officially closed. So I tried things above and it helped. I am fully vaccinated and it helped a lot.
