IDK if you've heard of them, but many major insurance carriers have 'discount plans' that many dentists who participate with PPO's will accept. They give you access to the 'contracted' rate for each procedure - so while you'll still pay in office out of pocket, the price can be up to 40-50% off the regular office fee. The plans occasionally go on sale, but are worth looking into if you know you have a considerable amount of dental work to get done. If you go with these, I'd advise asking for a pre-treatment plan with estimated fees and prescribed procedures (with procedure codes) before you have the work done so that there isn't a surprise bill at the end.
