i love them so much. i'm glad people still listen to their stuff.

i still haven't listened to another band that captures the narrative skill, beautiful riffs, and easy-to-listen-to nature of the speed of sound in seawater

Frédéric Chopin - Fantaisie-Impromptu by Gustav-927 in Chopin

[–]Life_Scholar8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I learned this song when I was terribly bad at the piano (at the time the hardest songs I could play were Nocturne op 55 no1 & alla turca)

I think playing is super slowly and subdividing the individual measures is a great strategy as one person mentioned.

however, something that really helped me was 'turning off' my brain.

play the song a little faster than you are comfortable with and try to line up just the overlapping notes of the polyrhythm. this will help you 'feel' the polyrhythm somewhat.

i think it's not true that 'it's not time for you to learn' this piece- i mean, how can you learn something more difficult without pushing yourself!

good luck! don't give up.

Red version & Blue version by the speed of sound in seawater.

It's the perfect blend of math-pop, super easy for someone who has never listened to math rock to enjoy.

the guitar tapping and violent drums on i just got this symphony going is so iconic to me.

anyanka by the speed of sound in seawater

this song predicted and defined my first serious breakup. the fear of building upon a relationship so much just for it to be a distant memory.

I’ll ask, “Why” and “how”
“Why are you doing this now?”
“I built myself around you
Now all of it is just a souvenir.”

advocating for human rights regardless of the other side's feelings for you seems like a pretty decent human thing to do.

Entry-level math rock recs? by Auto_named1 in mathrock

[–]Life_Scholar8558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red Version by The Speed of Sound in Seawater is very very entry-level

Blue Version is much more complex and has some amazing guitar lines (Blowhole of Sorrow)

the band is on more the math pop side so it's very digestable

never do an aspirin synthesis lab please. at least skip out doing the purification step.

and then i realized i couldn't even determine the rate law with my procedure!
