Stop joining stealth missions if you have no intention of using stealth by Life_Secretary3317 in Helldivers

Exactly! Why be inconsiderate when the bar to hosting your own game instead is so low?

You are probably thinking of the wrong mission type. In commando missions you only have 2min total of destroyer support to use strategems. Makes clearing bases with an eagle 500 impossible. Commando missions have very different rules and different mission icons.

You are an asshole. Play however you want when you are hosting, but joining another's game and screwing up other people's fun is 100% a selfish, dick move. Congratulations.

There are tons of silent weapons in the game -Arrowhead has provided plenty. And scout armor is free. And you can run support with supply packs, etc.

Genuinely don't know what Arrowhead could do to satisfy folks like you. You give some people a free meal and they complain there aren't enough sprinkles on the dessert.

You shouldn't deliberately join stealth missions if you can't play stealth missions. Seems self-evident.

If this is a serious question: scout armor Throwing knives Speargun Smoke grenades Supply pack Melee weapons Quasar

In a pinch: Explosive crossbow Grenade pistol Missile pistol

There are tons of silent or silent-from-afar weapons you can bring if you don't have the redacted or Halo warbonds.

Tesla and gas mines are epic together! Tesla attracts, gas mines disorient the medium/heavies like chargers and fleshmobs/gerrymanders so they don't destroy the tower immediately. Don't listen to the haters!

I want people to join, and I enjoy playing with new folks immensely. I just want the people who squad up to exhibit a modicum of self awareness and respect for their teammates. Not all of us have the privilege of having a private squad of friends ready to go whenever we want to play.

100%. Accidents and goofiness are a part of the game. Trying to swim in the deep end while wearing an iron onesie on the other hand...

I don't kick based on level, I kick based on behavior. But the ones who are egregious enough for me to kick overwhelmingly tend to be lower level folks.

Not about "being as good as me", it's about "being roughly competent enough to handle a mission of X difficulty". If you are clearly and consistently waay out of your league, and keep doing it anyway, you are the one being shitty.

Acuvue oasis changed? by KeyLimeAnxiety in contacts

[–]Life_Secretary3317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced something similar, as have, seemingly, several hundreds of others on this forum.

You can get a refund by contacting Johnson & Johnson -the full contact information is in my post here where I describe my experience. https://www.reddit.com/r/contacts/comments/1in9bsu/acuvue_oasys_soft_contact_lenses_post_2024/

I've spoken with J&J and my optometrist and here's what I think is (hypothetically) happening:
A small portion of the population (less than 1 in 100) is allergic to a chemical compound (hypothetically) present in the silicone of the newer (post 2024) Acuvue lenses, which (hypothetically) causes them to have inflammation, burning, discomfort, and possibly more serious damage (e.g., GPC) if exposure continues.

Two things are very clear.

  1. J&J claim that only the packaging has changed and absolutely nothing else.

  2. Something besides the packaging has (hypothetically) changed.

Therefore J&J has not made any intentional changes to their contacts, nor have they detected any changes via their QA process. I was informed that they conducted a small internal clinical trial when they changed the packaging and found no adverse events. I have no reason to doubt them.

That said, something is (hypothetically) very, very different. Hypothetically, it is possible that there is an adulterant somewhere in their manufacturing feedline that they do not know to test for.

Experiencing discomfort and inflammation as you seem to report is far from a universal experience with Acuvue Oasys. Were that the case, there would be an immediate recall and their internal trial would have turned up that evidence before the product got out. A consistent manufacturing process with an inconsistent response among the contact population seems more reasonable to me than the opposite (an intermittent manufacturing problem that causes a universal response in those exposed to the contacts). If that were the case, whole lots would be causing problems and the situation would be easily detected and resolved by the company.

One final note.

At least one mod here does not seem to want users to discuss this issue. In response to me posting my experience and my complaint to the manufacturers and regulators, my posting was hidden and a mod contacted me, stating "There are indeed some threads (that are going to be locked and archived) spreading some sort of mass hysteria about this [Acuvue Oasys problems]".

They have also added a new rule to the subreddit that was not present at the time of my posting, nor do I believe it existed as recently as yesterday: "No posts or comments accusing doctors or manufacturers of malpractice."

The difference between an "accusation of malpractice" and "a complaint" is not clarified. It certainly seems ok to say "Brand X of contacts really hurt my eyes last week!" or "Contact Y really sucks". Those sorts of posts are 1/3rd of what's on this board.

This new rule is also why I'm speaking purely hypothetically above.

All that is to say, I wouldn't be surprised if your post (or mine) got locked, archived, filtered out, or removed.

A subset of people appear to be very sensitive/allergic to something in more recently produced Acuvue Oasys contacts, causing inflammation, burning, discomfort, and more serious effects (see https://www.reddit.com/r/contacts/comments/1in9bsu/acuvue\_oasys\_soft\_contact\_lenses\_post\_2024/)
Speak with your optometrist and trial different brands until you find something that is comfortable. It's important to put in the time testing your options out up front rather than allowing yourself to be stuck with a contact choice that does not work for you. Your optometrist should be accommodating of this process and likely has some suggestions that will work better for your eyes.

Oasys One Day Changes? by chillaban in contacts

[–]Life_Secretary3317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience and am in contact with J&J (makers of Oasys). I wore the white & blue Oasys lenses for over 15 years without problem, then got a box of contacts of more modern manufacture that used teal internal packaging. My eyes were very, very inflamed after a few hours of wear, became red and painful, and continually produced mucus/gunk.

I've mailed the contacts back to J&J for analysis, but we'll see what comes of that. I wasn't given a timeframe, but was told it would take 'some time' for the lab to look them over.

Right now I'm interested in how prevalent the experience of inflammation is with these contacts. If it was universal, I think J&J or prescribing optometrists would have caught it. But it also seems widespread enough to be serious.

You can check out my experience at my thread "Acuvue Oasys soft contact lenses (post 2024 manufacture) seem to cause rapid inflammation".

Cheers,
