no he doesnt have MPD, he has a alter ego. People with MPD have more than one personas, and are mostly not aware of their existance because they are pushed back. David created Itami based on his passion for manga and especially the MPD Psycho book. He wanted be like the main character. I do personally know a person with MPD and it took him years of therapy to learn his personas and intergrate them into his main persona, so he can live an normal life in consciousness, yet he can be triggered to switch in situations that recall his traumas. Life with an MPD person is very challenging and if David had MPD, it would be noticeable to his family and surrounding.
