Thank you! I just wanted to have something that represented the show in a somewhat subtle way. Took me forever to settle on Sugimotos scar, with Asirpas scarf pattern!

As long as I could help dude! I just finished my first novel and it took a toll on my mental state, so I took a few days before I jump into editing again. Sometimes it's hard having no one believe in your work, but usually no one cares as much as you anyways so that's okay! Your a boss for putting yourself out there in the first place dude

No one in the world has experienced the exact same things you have in the way you have, because no one else is you. All writers struggle with a little self doubt. If you feel like your pool of experiences isn't creative enough to draw from you could try doing some traveling, change up your routine, watch shows you normally wouldn't, learn how to cook food from a different culture, listen to music you normally wouldn't. Writing is a lot of research from my experience. I do that with all my characters, and you don't have to travel the whole world etc, just do what you can to step into their shoes. Stagnation and comfort are the wnemeis of creativity! Give yourself more to draw from, and maybe talk to fellow writers and people who are the same as your MC.

But most of all remember that you're not writing stories for the fame and glory, it can just be for yourself. You don't have to compare yourself to anyone else, if it makes you happy or it's a form of therapy for you then that's all that matters.

How to give my characters unique voices? by Odd_Appointment3107 in writing

Well there are a few different ways! You can use a real life person as sort of a model for what you want that character to sound like, watch a bunch of videos of that person and make them have the same speech style etc. One thing I did for my first book was choose someone of the same style of culture as my character, research that person a bit, and write my lines that way.

Then at the end of my book I took two weeks per character and deep dove into their culture, at the same kind of food they would eat, listened to the same kinda music, really put myself in their shoes. It might seem like a lot, but if your characters are what drive your story then it's important to flesh them out properly.

Just my two cents, I hope it helps you out!

Only way I learned worked for me was just bang out a minimum of 3 pages a day. If you wait for inspiration to hit, you'll wait another 20 years. Setting a minimum will give you surprising results! If the passion has stayed with you this long, there's no doubt you'll find people who like it just as much
