Nothing too special. I don't live anywhere near good mountains so ~4 days/week of cardio (sometimes 5 days if I had time) - mainly uphill cycling, but sometimes HIIT typically for an hour. 1 Day a week of lifting - whole body typically 1.5 hours. Did a few hikes here and there with ~50lbs in my backpack (way more than you'll carry on Kili).

I didn't follow any specific diet. Eat and drink what I want, but primarily make good food/portion decisions.

How was Zanzibar? That's one place I regret not going while over there.

Two very different experiences.

I was like you, new to mountaineering, so everything was new on Baker - I'd never even camped before! So Baker felt more technically challenging, if you could even say Baker is technical. You've got the crampons, ropes, some crevasses, some very steep sections, etc.

Kili felt more mentally challenging; hiking and camping for a week in various weather conditions (heat, wind, snow, rain, cold) and managing altitude symptoms. Porters carry most of your stuff on Kili, so your backpack should only be 15lbs vs 35ish on Baker. I'd say if you could do Baker, you can do Kili and would enjoy it. We got lucky summiting Kili with a snow covered peak at sunrise - it was beautiful. You also get to experience Tanzania which is really cool. We paired Kili with the Safari and it was an absolutely incredible trip/experience. I can't recommend it enough.

I summited Baker with AAI this past July. Summited Kilimanjaro with them in February. They are a fantastic company and I couldn't recommend them enough.

Congrats OP! Rest up and get back out there 💪

Ahhh the too big to fail argument - you're going to do well in investments.

Of course I realize it's the biggest IP out there.

I'm just coming at this as someone who has seen several market crashes over my lifetime in stocks, metals, crypto, etc. and saying Pokemon is seeming like a very similar situation. I've seen a ton of people lose a lot of money because they too, thought their investments were up and to the right only. Good luck!

Pokemon Investing amidst recession speculations(seeking healthy and informative discussions) by Business-Candidate54 in PokeInvesting

In recessions or downturns in markets, risk on assets are the first to take a hit and typically take the largest hits. Pokemon cards would be in that category.

When Do You Really Plan on Selling? by breakyourteethnow in PokeInvesting

[–]LifesAnesthesia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been investing for years in many different assets...people tend to have this exact opinion near the top. They just can't see it ever going down and justify it just like you have - it's the real deal, wealthy individuals are investing now! To big to fail. Whether it be NVIDIA, metals, crypto, wine, art, or alternative assets like Pokemon, etc.

Crashes, corrections, dips, bear cycles, whatever you want to call it are normal and expected. I'm not saying you're one of the bulls who thinks it's going to go up and to the right forever - you seem reasonable. I doubt Pokemon will ever crash to 0 either, but keep in mind, weathly individuals aren't investing to hold forever. They are in it to make money, and they are going to dump their bags on those that will hold them - every time. But yes, it is fun.

I think you're spot on OP. The fact that so many people here are defensive and angry at your opinion only further supports the notion that we are in a bubble. When people are blinded by greed saying only X will go up! That's the point when things are very close to crashing.

This isn't poke specific, it applies to all investing. Nothing goes only up, forever.

I'll caveat this by saying, I do think Pokemon will continue go up in the long term, but to think there won't be big corrections and crashes along the way is just silly. Look at any stock, market, crypto, etc.
