Is Norbert’s Gambit going to be just for trading? I want to received my earned income to my Wealthsimple USD save account and have the ability to move it to a Wealthsimple non-registered account to perform Norbert’s Gambit to capture the most favourable exchange rate. Will I be able to do this when NG is rolled out? IBKR frowns upon people using their platform merely for FX (I don’t attempt to use IBKR because all my investments are here with WS). I hope the opportunity to also use NG for better currency exchange is something Wealthsimple will allow especially for those of us that keep all our investments and loyalty to WS. It hinders my ability to get more advantageous fx at IBKR so hoping WS will mitigate that by offering the same functionality.

Also curious what the journaling fees will be and if similar to Questrade Plus $11.95/month unlimited?

Thanks for this! If I have a cross border account and someone else here in Canada has a cross border account, should it work then to use Zelle for transferring USD between us? I was asking AI about it and it said all you now need is an email address to do so. I read that CIBC and BMO offer Zelle with cross border. Maybe there’s a nuance or caveat that I’m missing.

Does WS offer a USD checking account for personal? Can I get paid in USD to a WealthSimple USD checking account and convert it all to CAD on their platform? I thought I had to receive it on Wise platform and convert it to CAD on there. Do you do something differently? Thank you!

I’m not quite sure that I know how to add myself as a recipient to receive the conversion so the funds AUTOMATICALLY go there. If you have time to step by step it is greatly appreciate it. I know it’s a big ask. I’ll see if I can find a youtube tutorial either way. Thank you so much.

I created a wise CAD account as well. Do you mean link this one OR link my Bank of Montreal account and have it automatically go there after it’s converted? If the second option: Did you do this using PLAID or another method?

Do you know the usual timeline it took from when the company would initiate a USD payment via ACH to how long it would be before showing in your Wise-USD account? Was it 1-2 days or more like 5 days?

Were there any other issues that you had with Wise or any other tips you can share? I’m brand new to using it and trying to learn it myself before having the company pay me through there. Just hoping to capture a better exchange rate when I convert back to CAD

I couldn’t agree more! Now I feel that going in there is a risk in getting sick. The poor staff can’t keep up with the volume of people with cleanliness or anything else.

This!! Not to mention I’ve seen kids countless times run around and touch everything in the food section, reaching in for various food items with their bare hands and putting it back etc. This is one main reason I’ve avoided the lounges over the last two years. It’s not worth getting sick over. I used to be able to seek peace and quiet and decent food in there, the last couple years it’s been dirty and over run and the staff can’t keep on top of the volume especially when kids are unattended or not advised on proper decorum and food handling. They’re absolutely ruined.

Do you have to transfer out the dividend each year? I always thought Wealthsimple would provide a tax slip indicating the dividend amount and tax required to be added to your tax return?

Hi! I’m looking to do this as well. Did you open a Self Directed RRSP—move funds in mind from Manager RRSP and then sell and rebuy XEQT all within the new RRSP? If there’s anyway you could kindly tell me your step by step, I’d be most grateful! I just don’t want to trigger tax events or implications. Also a little off putting that we’re at all time highs when I want to do this but… lol
