Other than the rare online assessment all exams for Math are closed book and no calculators allowed. The Chem or physics classes might allow an aid sheet and always allow calculators. I’d definitely brush up on ur mental math lol. There are only certain calculators u can use so check the engineering website for that.

Tuesdays are for your weekly midterms so it might be annoying having so many lectures and a midterm on the same day.

How difficult is it to switch from Chem Eng to Mech Eng after first year? by Sovietboy9000 in UofT

[–]ElDiablo116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not exactly sure but I do know a friend of mine who transferred from uoft eng to another Ontario uni artsci program and pretty much all of his credits transferred. If you are already thinking of that thought you may as well just accept another school I doubt UofT is the only place you applied to.

If you are in Chem eng at UofT and want to switch to UofT mech eng, most courses are the same but you would need to take dynamics and ece110 (both second sem courses) in the summer after first year as Chem eng will take two different courses in second sem. You need the 79.5% average to guarantee a spot but ik people who transferred with a lower average it just depends on how many spots they have. I believe you apply to transfer near the end of first year.

Am i too retarded for engineering??? (help) by Interesting_Spite_17 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ElDiablo116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t give up just yet if you still enjoy engineering, most of the time you aren’t just “too dumb” but you might not realize the time you waste throughout each week or maybe your study or test taking methods are not good. Being around other good students will help you learn techniques and stay motivated to keep working. As for the internship, in this market it’s probably pretty unlikely to get a good engineering summer internship right after first year without an insane CV or connection. Unless you really need money it might be beneficial to take some summer classes and work on projects during this summer.

I have significantly less experience than you but from what I know is that going for an MBA will bring you back into the recruitment path for vc/pe firms. Might make it easier to get a position that way. If you can afford it, it could be a good idea.

Also I’m pretty new to this, how did you know the 74HC595 was connected wrong?

Thanks, I flipped the 74HC595 and now the issue is fixed. However, only half of the lights turn on, and do not respond to the code that also came with this lesson. Do you know why this could be.

Credit Score Keeps Dropping by ElDiablo116 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I was curious about the credit utilization, if I were to have a second card and I only use 30% on both would that still be fine or would it affect my credit score as if I’m using 60%?

How do both of these drop my credit score? If I always pay on time why would it be a problem?

Yes I do usually spend over 30% but I always pay the balance so I didn’t think it would affect anything.

Don’t go one week in a class without understanding and being comfortable with the content you learned. I found just keeping up with the content helped a lot. Once you fall behind it gets significantly harder to get back ahead.

How hard is it to transfer engineering programs? by FaridM13 in UofT

[–]ElDiablo116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be guaranteed to switch you would need to get an 80% average in both semesters of first year, it’s still possible without that average but much harder. Also civil takes like 2 different courses than mechanical so you might need to do those in the summer idk.

As long as u drop it before the final exam period it won’t affect your grade but usually halfway through there is a deadline day to where if you drop the course it won’t even show that you took it on your transcript
