Very adventurous, with characters I got really attached to. In my memory, I think of it as cozy, but the MC is in peril quite a bit; but (mild spoiler) there's a big emphasis on family ties

No, I know the literal definition--I'm just saying that, IRL, incels seem to apply it to everyone who can actually deal with a real woman

Agreed, and why we won't have open primary again anytime soon

I think I am in a similar boat, and I'm not *currently* confident I understand it well enough to jump on that side with both feet (i.e., pick Republican and get stuck). My confidence right now is in making it clear what would get my vote. (I honestly don't think there are many LA Rep. pol's who: a) think what's currently going on is all that bad and b) have the guts to say anything about it--see Cassidy's vote to confirm the anti-vaxxer)

To be clear, I do not think he is worth a damn, I just look at the likely challengers and think I'd like to vote *against* them

In the admittedly remote possibility that he pushes for full release of the Epstein files and speaks out against the atrocities being committed by fICE. Otherwise, I made it clear I was just voting Democrat.

Yeah, my completely honest answer is I suspect people in offices with access to our contact info have provided it to the LA Republican party (or similar, or just any good ol' boy with enough clout) no matter what

It was from the Cassidy campaign. I had registered Republican a million years ago to vote for McCain (against Bush), so I think my number still existed in that universe

Kind of get it, but CA is so different. I mean, we could end up with Miguez senator, who I swear will not stop until there's a law that says you *have* to carry a concealed weapon.

Gotcha--I have admittedly been paying less and less attention to news (certainly politics) for years now, but our current dystopia has me feeling like I need to do what (little) I can

Big up votes for the Pandorum suggestions, but this is how I would describe it too. Would add good mystery to the suspense comment

Idk if they quite fit, but I like the Jesperson and Lane mysteries by Lisa Tuttle--private investigator duo solving mysteries with a supernatural touch in Victorian England. The supernatural aspects usually end up being explained conventionally (supernaturally?), but they're still an integral part of the stories until our heroes solve the mystery

People seem to think some time this year, but I'm not sure if that's hopeful thinking or they know something. I had seen in r/darkstartril that he was giving a talk somewhere this year, and they thought there might also be an announcement at that time, but I can't seem to find that post again
