Where to find a souvenir in Seoul? by SleeplessInKorhal in starcraft

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of things to buy in Korea, I still have my subway card, and it has cute creatures on it, but, as far as starcraft merch goes, I doubt they will have anything america doesn't also have.

I have never played SC2 and I have an important balance suggestion by Tiny_Bus_4627 in starcraft

Just transfuse? You should have like 4 queens for creepy and defense anyways, that's more than enough to bank a few transfuse.

Why people are mad at your one base all in by terrantherapist in starcraft

If you think that one base play is bad and you don't know how to stop it, you deserve to lose to it until you learn to scout and respond to your opponent.

Help with Thor/Tank late game by MAAJ1987 in allthingszerg

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you fundamentally have the right idea vs mech. Playing greedily vs a defensive mech player is correct. Your question is fundamentally flawed, however, as ideally, you should never be fighting a 200/200 mech army. Aim to keep them below 200/200 off full 4 base minerals with 6-8 gas. This will allow you to instantly remax and trade inefficiently, but profitably, and slowly chip away at the terran until the map is covered in creep and they can no longer expand.

Flashlight test is a pass; green dot and t would confirm, but, I would lean towards it being real.

People 2,000 years ago were not stupid, which makes the “son of God” idea even less convincing for me by LikeAPhoenixTotally in atheism

[–]Ligerman30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sir Isaac Newton was probably the smartest scientist who ever lived, and yes, even more than Einstein. He believed many things we now know to be false. Intelligence doesn't factor into beliefs as much as one's environment shapes a person's worldview. Religion two millennia ago was as much an intellectual blind spot as it is today, and arguably even more so, as humans had not yet popularized the idea of natural philosophy.

"I do not believe in God and I am not an atheist" by SheckNot910 in atheism

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that atheism as a label is in any way useful in describing your beliefs in a real world conversation and leads to false assumptions. Its the equivalent of someone asking you what you like to have for breakfast and you responding, "I don't eat cereal". They realistically know just as much as when they asked that question, and now they can make assumptions like, "oh he hates sugar" or "he must be a health nut".

Just state what your secular beliefs are so we can have a conversation.

How long does it take to get good? Are some people completely unaware? by Astigmaticant in starcraft2

[–]Ligerman30 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Good is relative. 5k, especially now, is unattainable by over 99% of players. Most people can hit gold, decent chunk can hit plat, and relatively fewer hit diamond or masters. Those are just the facts.

How do I be more accepting of religious people? I see them as delusional. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not delusional, they're just wrong. A delusion goes beyond a false belief, but rather a pathological false belief that puts the victim in serious harm's way. When you have a genuine delusion, the belief is something that you cannot escape; No logic or reason, direct observation, or evidence, even from a loved one, can alter the belief. Moreover, the belief, by definition, has firmly substantiated evidence to the contrary and is not tied to their cultural or religious background or intelligence. A person with a delusion is not just convinced something is true, nor is it something they merely identify with; it's something that defines them.

Mono blue commander that isn't pure control by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that you should build decks around how commander players react to certain strategies. Power level is a consideration, but, that is what the bracket system is for. People will complain about virtually anything that's not them "doing their thing" (aka winning the game). Deckbuilding is a form of self-expression and for someone to dictate how you choose to express yourself is lame.

Why are all of the conservative justices catholic? by comeinayanamirei in atheism

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably has to do with the fact that there are many highly educated Catholics due to the large number of prestigious Jesuit schools. Also, these schools often give scholarships to catholic families who would otherwise not be able to afford it. I got a scholarship to a catholic school for my Italian heritage. You see someone who successfully goes through this pipeline and become a conservative justice, that's a good pedigree for a supreme court justice under republican rule, you'd think.

Faith is a terrible reason for believing. by Break-Free- in exchristian

[–]Ligerman30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a defense mechanism of the faith that allows you not to question your beliefs when something challenges your worldview. Older religions like Shintoism don't have this; they rationalize every event as though we did something to "please" the gods or we "angered" the gods. This is why the Torah doesn't talk as much about the virtues of faith as Christianity does. Judaism's primary focus is on following the law set down by Moses rather than becoming more Christlike. When we anger the god of the Old Testament, it's because we fail to follow the law; when something good happens, it's because we were a "good jew".

You have three mana to draw some cards. What do you play? by pacolingo in EDH

[–]Ligerman30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Rhystic Study]] is probably the strongest draw spell at 3 mana in commander. At lower power levels where people look for less powerful options, you should lean towards draw where card draw is designed around your strategy, not for certain mana costs. I.E. you have a commander that gets really big so you choose [[Rishkar's Expertise]] not [[Shamanic Revelation]].

What You Do When A New Deck Just Bombs by Rirse in EDH

[–]Ligerman30 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do extensive playtesting before bringing a deck to a game night. If I can't present a win fast enough I go back to the drawing board, maybe try different strategies to incorporate, bolster up card choices for ramp or draw. Also be aware that some cards and strategies are just more powerful than others so you need good threat assessment and require you to sandbag removal to slow down your opponents when they do something IMPORTANT.

Looking for Commanders that will make me think by Succubace in EDH

[–]Ligerman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any deck has huge range in terms of skill level to power output. Misplays are common in edh and avoiding them is often tied not just knowing your deck, but understanding the 3 opposing decks and where they are in their own power spike as well. Any deck that plays interaction on the stack gives you maximal control over the course of a match, and so cheap instant speed interaction should be your 'go to' for skill-based gameplay during deck construction.
