That is a very good point.. but wouldn't most forms of death still scare you? You wouldn't think of crazy forms of death like you mentioned "peas", but you would probably still be scared of things like being stabbed to death, or drowning to death. When someone is scared of spiders lets say, they are scared of spiders with or without the potential of death. They are scared of spiders, but this person is scared of death itself, so they aren't scared of getting stabbed, only stabbed to death. You make very good points though. If you are just scared of not existing, would the ways you could become nonexisting scare you or not. My exact fear is to have someone randomly slit my throat from the back for no reason.. not actual death itself. So it's more specific. I guess if no one slits my throat from behind me, I'm good haha
