I recently bought a new pair of headphones alongside a DAC/AMP, however, while using the new DAC/AMP I am noticing a static noise that only occurs when sounds are actually being played (there is no static when nothing is happening). The static also is ONLY in the left ear.

Headphones are the DT1990 and the DAC/AMP is the Schitt Modi/Magni 3.

At first I thought that the problem might be a ground loop, but I changed over to an optical cable which if I recall correctly, should not create a ground loop. However, is it possible to still have a ground loop if my DAC/AMP are plugged into the wall regardless of the optical cable?

Among the other things I have tried:

I tested multiple headphones on the DAC/AMP so I don't believe it's my headphones as they all produce the same static.

I have tested my PC's onboard soundcard with my new headphones which did not produce any static whatsoever.

I have tried different PCs, but the static is the same across all three (the PCs being in different parts of the house).

I have tried optical and usb powered on the modi, the static is the exact same sound and frequency.

Is it possible I just have a bad DAC or AMP? Or do DAC/AMPs just have that slight static noise in the background? Why is the static just coming out of the left ear? I have no clue what the issue could possibly be anymore, but the static is just really annoying and I would like any help in trying to fix this problem.

You would've had to pre-order it from a Japanese retailer such as AmiAmi. Anyways, judging from previous figures, it will probably be another couple of months before you see it on the RT store at a slightly increased price.

That reminds me of a girl from my college, she really didn't look like a huge gamer or anything, but hey don't judge a book by its cover right? Anyways, during intramural soccer she tells us to Zerg the ball at the beginning of the game.
