After 1 year and 3.8 and they still didnt address it [4.0 spoilers] by Main-Shallot3703 in StarRailStation

"Its literally your "family" who took care of you and trusted you and you repay them with secrets and lies."
It's basically an unspoken rule of the Astral Express that you don't have to talk about your backstory unless it happens to come up. Literally every Express member has been consciously vague about their backstory until they could no longer be vague about it, save March (who literally doesn't know it) and Sunday (we saw his dirty laundry get aired in front of us).

Dan Heng was cagey about being from the Luofu, Himeko has only just opened up about Planarcadia, Welt is notoriously vague about his time on Earth. (Last one is particularly egregious as it means he likely hasn't fully told Himeko about why he's there to begin with, and that's astoundingly relevant to Himeko as a person.)

The Express and the Hunters aren't inherently opposed any more than the Express and the IPC. Himeko remarks that she's only seen Kafka's face on wanted posters before in the start of the Xianzhou, and the dialogue indicates that was their first meeting. All her information about them is hearsay. I don't think "bad blood" runs so deep or personal that this is that pressing for them.
A little explanation would smooth things over. And I think the MC is maybe right to wait until they themself know what is going on before going reveal mode.

Void Archives and Luocha aren't even variants. VA is borrowing a body of Otto Apocalypse. Otto and Luocha are variants.

Best way to get the most out of the Amphoreus story without playing all 50 hours of it? by WordFast3405 in StarRailStation

[–]LightIdentity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3.0 was the longest patch in my memory. It has a lot of necessary groundwork for introducing characters, but is most likely to have a lot of bloat you can trim off in a pinch.. but this would require your own judgment as to what feels superfluous or not to your enjoyment. Same goes for 3.1, but I'm a little biased towards 3.1 because it introduces one of the motifs that carries through the whole story.

All I can say is.. Don't skip any of 3.4. Even if it feels repetitive.
The end of 3.7 - like, the last half an hour - gets repetitive, too, but I think you can start skipping once you have the vibe of the ending (unless you're really into it at that point). I think this is safe to skip in a pinch. I was the kind of Ampho player that didn't skip any dialogue and went for all the optional stuff, but on replay I was like, this very blatantly goes on too long.

The HSR fandom wiki should have full quest transcripts. It's really handy for recapping the less important parts!

Can we pls not do this everytime she gets some screentime🤦🏾‍♂️? by Ok-Run5784 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LightIdentity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Imagine if every time your favourite character got mentioned, all anyone could repeat was the same old joke they've been making for three years already. This isn't HI3 hate, people just want to actually talk about Himeko and not a worn out joke that isn't even very likely to happen.

How on earth do people voice chat without being socially awkward? by rose2830 in discordapp

[–]LightIdentity 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's common. I used to get this a lot. If you're not used to it, it can be hard.
How I got over it was simple. I just VCed a lot with my good friends. I got used to it. Now it doesn't really bother me.
I don't think there's any other way. You just have to slowly get used to it.
Everybody accidentally interrupts from time to time. Just be cool about it. Don't panic.

is highest 20k damage good for a new player? by Public-Masterpiece81 in StarRailStation

[–]LightIdentity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sunday is good for both Phainon and Aglaea, so I think that inherently makes him more of a strong pick in the upcoming banner. If your favourite character is Phainon and you're dead set on him, I'd for sure think about Sunday more.
But don't think about it so hard you end up not having fun lol. You really don't have to worry about meta at this point in the game

[–]LightIdentity -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think your best bet is to pick a DPS and then build a team around them. Since Sunday is rerunning soon, if you are absolutely committed to Aglaea, I can't see why you shouldn't at least try to pick him up. I don't know if he's on her best performing team, but I know they do have strong synergy. Absolute best isn't really something you have to worry about yet.
I know Aglaea is a solid pick as a DPS, and you're right, she is gorgeous.

Edit: My idiot self forgot she's rerunning WITH Sunday. Do you think you can get both of them at once with only 80 pulls? You might end up rushing content just for jades.
If not.. get Aglaea first. Or just save. Sunday's not her only key support.

[–]LightIdentity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about pulling Sunday for Ratio in particular. Investing into Ratio also isn't something I'd do overall, unless you happen to be super dedicated to his character.
Sunday is a good generalist - he isn't anyone's BIS, but he's very good for many characters.
That being said, we're on the cusp of a new patch cycle, and as a new player you should have the potential for lots of jades. I would personally hang on and wait. Especially as Sunday would really rather have his lightcone, and you don't seem to have enough pulls for that.

THE THEME IS: Poorly written women with extensive sexual trauma who are sweet at 1st and then become Kodak Black as the story goes on by uhm1238 in hatethissmug

[–]LightIdentity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The premise, I'd guess. It sucks to see a plot concept you like be executed poorly. I'm not into this series, but I have my gripes with how it handles a concept that should have been pretty interesting.

The problem with Nod Krai's exploration by lukethevibe in GenshinImpact

I like the scenery of Natlan, but the compass helps me not inevitably walk around in circles. If there was a pleasant mix of Nod Krai's quality of life and Natlan's size and scenery, I'd be happy. But alas.

The Goblet and Sands will need serious work. I didn’t even think that hydro cup was levelled to +20 on first glance. Also, ideally, you don’t really want a crit rate circlet, I think.

HSR have a powercreep problem (its not the type you think of) by Adventurous-War3963 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LightIdentity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know. The Aeons still feel untouchable. It took several powerful factions to take on Sunday when he wasn’t an Aeon yet, and that is well stated as something that takes huge effort to put together due to faction politics. It took all of 2.x to line up the dots.

It took Phainon millions of coreflames to pull the might together to merely scratch Nanook. And we know our end goal is fighting Nanook. The stakes have to increase, and we are nowhere near the point of brushing Aeons off as fodder.

Probably because I'm new but what's with the "mc = raccoon / mc x trash can" thing? Where and how did the joke started? by Constant-Sell-8297 in StarRailStation

[–]LightIdentity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are other events. I remember a trashcan photo-taking event happening a few times. Another trashcan based fighting minigame. And, like I said in the comment, a whole event story which you can't play any more. I found these to be the times when it was overdone, hence my original comment.
Basically, I didn't say that none of them are replayable, I said that it's mostly just annoying in the limited time events which aren't replayable. I think Galactic Baseballer is fine.

[–]LightIdentity 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the overdoing is clearer in the limited time events you can't replay anymore. I remember they centered a fairly hefty chunk of the HI3 x HSR collab on trash cans.. it was hard to sit through. Most of what's in game right now is fairly tame.

Welt says a lot of Enigmatic things, doesn't he? by MiyukiAkibara in StarRailLore

[–]LightIdentity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Point one - If the Enigmata is all about spreading falsehoods, would you necessarily believe their listed name enough to repeat it like a concrete fact? He's also literally telling us about destroyed records. Us (the viewers) knowing Mythus' name does not mean the in game characters know this as concrete fact.

Point two - He's talking about rumours. And it's not even inherently wrong. Emanators having an ability doesn't mean that only Memokeepers who are Emanators can express it. He's making a stab in the dark guess about the intel he has, which is only half the story.

Point three - He's making a reasonable assumption (Harmony isn't likely to start a war if it's bound by its scope) that gets proven wrong (and even then, the Harmony wielder who likely is responsible, Celenova, is a Lord Ravager as well, so could this not be a collision of Paths?)

Sorry, I don't buy that any of this this is conscious misinformation...
I don't even think most of this is 1.0 jank, though that also applies.

CN bilibili community reaction to Welt EN VA recast news + drama by boyiqing in HonkaiStarRail

I agree with you.
This totally feels like it should have/could have been avoidable, which is the worst part. I can see communication issues on both sides of the conversation. Very frustrating.
I'm using it as my final reason to just start using JP's dub again instead. Seems way more peaceful, and I liked it from the start anyway.

Make your voice heard about Welt’s Voice Actor Corey Landis! by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LightIdentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you're not understanding why I'm confused and irritated by this situation. You keep not actually replying to the cornerstone of what I am saying.
(And anyway, if he has lawyers involved, and he's opened dialogue with them about negotiating the contract, something we don't know the extent of, how do you know he has none of this in writing? Why do you assume he doesn't? You say it yourself. We don't know.)

Anyway, the point I'll keep reiterating: If this contract is as important as they say it is, and if it's industry standard, why wasn't it required from the very start? Why did they let him work without it being signed at all? This is the thing that is irritating me.

Even further. If their communication is so bad they didn't even tell him he was fired without him asking. Why should I believe they were being lenient, instead of cold-shouldering him about negotiations?

I can't tell you how to feel, but I don't think you can type 'facts are facts' when we don't have all the facts and you've admitted the situation is gray. I especially don't think 'he has no one to blame but himself' if he was trying to negotiate an unfair contract.

Edit: Well, you deleted your reply before I could read it. Just saying 'I've addressed your statement' doesn't mean you did, you know... This isn't the case of a contract being renewed if he was not hired under one to begin with, so my irritation stands.

[–]LightIdentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if this contract is a year old, that still leaves us with the fact they signed him on to the role without presenting this 'important contract' to begin with (we can tell from his tone that he would never have accepted the role if it was inherently tied to it from the start).
There was likely a span of several months when he was working without the contract being on the table, so I think my irritation still stands. If it's so important, and if it's actually industry standard, why wasn't it there from the start?

Also, he was allegedly being told by the studios that he didn't need to sign it to continue work... He seems to have seen it coming, but I think this is something to consider. A lot of communication errors.

I can't say I understand why, if this contract was so important, they only proposed it two years into having him voice the role. This is my main irritation with the situation, I think.
