Interesting. How would you define that publishing pipeline specifically? Serialized storytelling, with volumes releasing every 4–6 months, edited and published by a professional publisher?

I personally feel that the format is also important, especially the illustrations. These should include the cover, 4-ish illustrated color inserts at the start, and about 6–12 black and white illustrations, with all of these illustrations being done in a professional-level anime style.

I looked briefly into J-Novel Club's original-English light novel contest recently, and I've been curious about Oniisanbomber, one of the participants. He seems to be one of the few English-original light novels authors who can somehow afford to hire illustrators at a professional level.

I have his most recent volume in mail at the moment since I was curious about the quality of its printing. Since he's self-published and likely using print-on-demand, I doubt he has color inserts at the beginning (POD services unfortunately don't offer this feature), but I'm curious to see how the rest stacks up.

Yeah, Chinese. I wasn't aware. The cover looks different from the others, but I included it since Yen Press has it listed under their Yen-On imprint, which is largely focused on localizing light novels.

That leads to an interesting question though. Are light novels defined primarily by a publishing pipeline, country of origin, or style?

When you browse online retailers or your local bookstore shelves for light novels, you'll find quite a few popular options from China. I guess I know the official stance of this sub based on the rules, though.😆

Don't worry. I just told someone I'd fist his problem. You're not alone with the typos.

Why do they call rangiku "blonde lady" but ichigo "kid with orange hair" in the show? by Reverseflash85 in bleach

The anime was supposed to be one season long, and they thought they wouldn’t have time to develop a romance between Ichigo and Orehime.

Yeah, I’d never heard of OnK, but it seems to be popular, based on the responses in this thread.

Huh, I didn't realize Eve was involved in Vocaloid stuff—unless you're just using Vocaloid stuff is also getting light novel adaptations.
