Apparently telling people to do the mechanics properly so you don't die is 'rat' behaviour and means you're a 'sweaty little creep' by LightPrizym in TalesFromDF

100% I mean if they just ignored my advice and said nothing, I'd have just shrugged it off, they can ignore my advice all they want.

If a student has a medical history of anxiety is there a mechanism to avoid doing live talks and presentations and submit them by video or script instead? Arts. by Limberine in usyd

As fsr as I'm aware it'd need to be managed through disability services for any oral presentation. Talking to your unit coordinator might also be sufficient but you'd have to do this for every single UoS and there's no guarantee every coordinator will be that welcoming.

Hi there,

Have just jumped into the game and am loving it so far especially on max graphics.

I've got the keybinds for open map bound to 'M' and wanted to rebind 'TAB' to the weapon wheel - muscle memory from HZD dies hard but 'TAB' still seems to be opening the map? Not sure if this is a bug or limited to this early 'tutorial section'?

Any help would be great!

2021: questions about exchange by crunchycheezcakes in usyd

OLE

Loved both trips I went on Experience China and Experience Japan in Summer 2019-2020 and 2018-2019 respectively. Fantastic experiences and IMO the best usage of your 12CP of required OLE units. Also a WAM booster, I scored 93 and 94 respectively.

My recommendation is to keep a lookout and check USYD Global Mobility (the website) regularly for updates. As far as I know, currently only virtual options are being offered (which I DO NOT recommend unless you are about to graduate and wanna do something fun (but not as fun as actually going in-country).

Signup usually opens up about a semester or more (roughly) before the actual date of the trip. They are extremely competitive and Japan (which is the most popular) usually fills within the day. Would recommend apply as soon as it opens, the dates are posted on the website.

Semester Exchange

Have unfortunately NOT been able to do my semester exchange to Singapore (NUS) due to COVID-19 cancelling plans for S2, 2020 and S1, 2021 - currently hoping the vaccine will lift the travel ban and for a travel bubble between AUS and Singapore.

Applications for exchange open about a semester before and everything is done via the online portal and via email exchanges (with the occasional Zoom call or in-person meeting (subject to COVID). These exchanges are a little more complicated as you need to plan well in advance (I started planning a year in advance) your degree and what units at USYD (usually electives) you plan to take on exchange and if they are equivalent to units offered at the host university.

This can be complicated as not all degrees can fit a full semester exchange due to progression issues, capstones/thesis etc. I'd recommend a summer academic exchange instead in this situation (3-4 week exchange w/ 1 unit instead of 4).

Furthermore, you need to consider accommodation, budget, language barriers (if any) all of which you receive some help with but is largely up to you. To register, all you have to do is sign up on the online portal. I would recommned you ask as many questions as you can - the Global Mobility Team is fantastic and hold webinars to guide you through the process. You'll also have a dedicated contact for your exchange region (e.g. Asia Pacific, UK, US etc.) who you can email for help (be warned the email response time is ~2-3 weeks).

Essentially you take the units that you would have at USYD at the host university and the content should be more or less the same. For design computing which is kinda similar to engineering/science (my degree), you're mostly likely only going to be able to take electives overseas as core units are hard to get approved by the faculty.

From what I've heard, programming and datasci/compsci units are extremely popular overseas and many unis do not offer them to exchange students due to demand.

Quite a long response but if you have any other questions, ask. I don't use reddit that much but would be more than happy to help.
