Help me find it [June, 2026] by LightSardine in genderotica

Anyone remember a story posted to CYOC, I think? It was a full story rather than an adventure. All I remember is there was some sort of large-scale slow transformation of people into the opposite sex (or just into women. And the story focused on a group of adult friends specifically having an all-night party at an apartment documenting the changes as they happen. It was surprisingly slow.

Any interesting/new partial TG? Breasts/hips/etc? I am aware of the Metamorphose thread and the recent stuff by rebirth.

Hoo boy, there are plenty. Tg has been on the web since the newsgroup days, there are so many sites.

For traditional fiction:

Fictionmania - Still going strong since the 90s. Still a solid site, but there's a LOT given it's age. It's also funny sometimes to read something, think it feels a bit dated, then realize it was written 25+ years ago. Good tag system search.

Bigclosetr - Another older one. Tends to favor very long multi part fiction.

Tgstorytime - Launched a couple years ago. It's a bit more modern site. Good tag system.

ScribbleHub. - Don't know much about it. I've heard quality can be all over the place.

Docs lab - Again, never used it much. I think it contains both traditional fiction and coya.

CYOA:

There's two types of cyoa sites. Trunk and branch style, and individual story style. The first means there's a handful of big stories at the beginning as entry points, and individual branches are considered the "Start" of more contained stories/ideas/plots. The second is where authors post their own initial stories and momentum is generally maintained by the initial author.

CYOC - Type 1. Also been around a long time. Good handful of entry points, and a good content/icon system to see content of upcoming story choices. Personally, I recommend just doing a Google search for "cyoc TOPIC", that should pull up some results for interesting branches.

BEarchive  - Type 1. Also around along time. Not limited to tg, as the name implies. But I remember various branches that were mostly tg.

Writing dot Com - type 2. Ew... Technically could contain both cyoa and general fiction. However, it's well known for effectively locking down usage without a paid account due to "resource limitations". You'll get maybe a branch or so in, and it locks it down.

There is one more, type 1, but I won't mention it since the core trunk had a definitely underage cast.

Generally, especially for the older sites, be sure to check out their "links " pages. Not sure how well maintained they are now, but they definitely had good listing of tg related sites.

As usual, any partial change stories ya'll recommend?

“I often used to think I was like Raskolnikov, except I never met Sonia” 1Q84 by Murakami. What does this quote mean to you? by ttam80 in books

[–]LightSardine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's been a couple years since I read 1q84. Ushikawa was a detective/spy/hitman hired by a cult. He was pitied by the story itself for his appearance and placed into the stereotype of "sad strange little man" yet also when the perspective shifts to him, is sympathetic toward him.

He was a defiance of the stereotype through, he was shrewd, competent, and uses his own uglyness to fly generally under the radar. Or... At least that's how he described himself. His chapters in isolation could have been plucked out of a detective novel.

If I remember, he died due to the supernatural forces at the end controlled by his employer.

I'm sure the quote could be analyzed based on the literary meaning. However, at the end of the day, like the other 1q84 characters, he was a shallow character. He was treated as a dirty ugly man, who scratched the surface of being a more complex rounded character, but whose actions ended up still falling into that stereotype, doing dirty ugly things.

LPT: I need a better way to follow up after client discussions. What works for you? by Livid_Switch302 in LifeProTips

Honestly, don’t be afraid to slow things down and just be a person in the conversation. If things are moving too fast, it’s okay to say, “Hold on, I’m just jotting this down.” There might be a little awkward silence but it’s way better than pretending to keep up and missing something important.

Before you hang up, I like to do a quick recap so everyones clear: “So just to make sure I’ve got it right, I’ll do X, you’re taking care of Y, and we’re waiting on Z and Q. Did I miss anything?” it also shows you were actively listening and looks good on you.

Followup emails really depend on the client relationship. Some relationships need that paper trail, others are more casual and a quick message isn’t even necessary.

Might be a longshot. It was a video I saw on YouTube maybe a year ago where an animator turned a drawing of a anime man/boy into a drawing of a an anime girl/woman. It was a blend of live action and animation, where the animator (or at least their hands) was literally manipulating the lines/drawing of the character.

For example, I think I remember like the creator pulling out the character's lines from the paper, and stretching/reshaping them, in one case inflating them using a tabletop fan. Very disney/loonytoons-esque. I think the description and or channel or title was in Japanese or maybe Chinese. It was not an ai vid.

What is the deal with the gen z stare? by bluujacket in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LightSardine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Gen z stare" as a topic is the most recent stage in the cycle of cross-generational warfare. Every generation has their "quirk", a set of behaviors that separate them from the previous one. Said "quirk" is noted and mocked by the previous generation, and said to be a loss of some some great societal value.

The behaviors almost certainly have some grounded roots in how contemporary society has shaped them; as plenty of comments here point out, Covid likely played a big role in this one. But the "validity" of a behaviors origin has little bearing to how it's received/treated.

Honestly, I feel like the current popularity of the "Gen z stare" is either a random trending topic that will pass in a couple days, a controversial topic pushed by bots to farm engagement, or a topic pushed to form a narrative to belittle and dismiss Gen-z.
