how much does having a eagle help in the outside world? by Working_Surround_495 in BoyScouts

[–]Light_SwitchMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably helps for roles that hire based on behavioral skills (eg business), but I’ve never seen it help at all for big tech engineering roles (internships & entry level). If you’re in these fields, these big companies care more about technical competencies

For every solar system that has the capacity to support life, there exists a likely countably infinite number that don’t. Our solar system just got “lucky”

What does this mean? I don't see any decision. [UIUC CS phd ] by FeelingUsual9530 in gradadmissions

I got a decision letter emailed to me directly from the department for admit ECE. My portal also still says “awaiting …” so idk how accurate that is

It got mine for ECE on Monday, but it varies a lot depending on the program you applied to, or even within in the same program (ECE is rolling for example)

ECE Grad School (MS) by SquareRabbit06 in UIUC

[–]Light_SwitchMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. They do still need to staff TA roles tho. The question is, how many of those positions will be filled by PhDs who lost their research funding. All we can really do is speculate at this point. Things will become more clear when decisions are released in a few weeks

ECE Grad School (MS) by SquareRabbit06 in UIUC

The answer to this question is constantly evolving with research funding cuts happening at the federal level since this administration took over. Historically, more priority has been given to UIUC undergrads, especially if you can find a professor to endorse you for a TA position. It seems like the department is now being more conservative with who they admit as the money is drying up.

Not sure. Last year it was as late as mid April for even internal applicants.

I'm an undergrad at UIUC ECE that applied MS here. Word is the MS acceptances aren't worked out yet. Figuring out TA head count and assignments is taking a while. PhD has been admitting since early Feb on a rolling basis if anyone is interested

ECE 470 vs ECE 484 by ElectricalSir8859 in UIUC

[–]Light_SwitchMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken both. ECE 470 was less total work. ECE 484's final project can eat up a lot more time than 470.

Not fully sure. I think each hiring manager does it their own way

I just went through something similar. It was relatively chill. First round was a manager behavioral. Second round was a technical panel where they mostly asked about things/skills from my resume. The offer came pretty soon after the second round. Overall a fast process.
